Testing to see how this Gitter thing works, don't mind me.

@/all Hello everyone. Tomorrow we will be meeting at 3:30 P.M in the Computer Science Research Lab. If you have any problems with making it out, please let me know. I'll be presenting a project plan and schedule for us to discuss, and then we can actually get started on the meat of the project. Thanks!

@damon-myers
@/all: Just a reminder of what all happened today:

@/all: As a reminder, the Progress Report is due on Monday, February 15th. If you are planning on making any submissions to the wiki, please do so ASAP.
Damon Myers
@damon-myers
@/all: I don't think it will be necessary for us to meet tomorrow afternoon. If anyone disagrees, please let me know. Otherwise, we will not meet tomorrow at 3:30.

@damon-myers
@/all: Just as some forewarning, Vuckovic will be attending our next meeting, so please be prepared to discuss an attack you want to implement, and whether the ubertooth is capable of performing it. Please add your attacks here or on the wiki so that we don't have multiple people planning on doing the same attack. Thanks. :)

@/all: As a reminder, Mr. Vuckovic will be attending our meeting tomorrow, so we should try to make a good impression, after all, he is formally our adviser. I'll be describing the Bluesnarfing attack, in which you can gain unauthorized access to a bluetooth device in discoverable mode. I'll also bring the Ubertooth for us to demonstrate the spectrum analyzer graphic. Please let the others in the group know what attack you are planning on studying so that we don't have overlap! Thanks.

https://gcn.com/articles/2005/07/20/a-menu-of-bluetooth-attacks.aspx An old article, but it gives the GOALS of four categories of attack. Admittedly, it doesn't go much into the HOW, but I can see how the DOS attack could work (Make the ubertooth spam connection requests to drain the mark's batteries).

@damon-myers
By two weeks:
  • Have your Bluetooth attack formally decided
  • Have an example of an implementation or your own implementation to dissect together

@jasholt
http://trifinite.org/trifinite_stuff_bluesmack.html Seems straight forward enough for a DoS attack. Loop a constant set of ping commands to a device till it craps out.

@/all: Does anyone still want to meet this week, or would we prefer to postpone till next week?
I'm planning on dropping one of the Ubertooths off with Dr. Yuan, but I'm free to help anyone get the libraries set up on their computer if anyone needs it.
dginn
@dginn
@damon-myers : I do not necessarily need to meet today.
Damon Myers
@damon-myers
@dginn: Sounds good, I'll stop by the computer science lab in case anyone else does, but we should be good without one today.
Cryoman-R
@Cryoman-R
Hey, I just wanted to let you all know that I'm not gonna make it to the meeting today. I'm in San Antonio and I won't be back in time for the meeting.
Damon Myers
@damon-myers
@/all : Anyone been having any luck with their attacks? I'm just now confident in how to get a Bluetooth Address. Lol.
Damon Myers
@damon-myers
Everyone, I will be absent from the meeting tomorrow. I've got research presentations on Tuesday and Friday and desperately need to get some more work done on them. Sorry for the late notice!
Damon Myers
@damon-myers
@dginn: As a warning, do not leave your Ubertooth plugged in overnight. Learned that one the hard way. :worried:
Damon Myers
@damon-myers
@/all Just so everyone's aware, I would like to meet today! We've got limited time till the end of the semester, so we need to figure out a plan for exactly what we want to present and what we want our paper to be over.
jasholt
@jasholt
3:30?

Thank you! Invited you all. Google reminded me of everyone else's emails when I went to invite you two. Lol.

@/all: So I just realized that I gave you all access to the wrong slides. Lol. Fixed it now.

@/all: You will all be relieved to know that I just uploaded the final progress report. Lol. Didn't forget this time.
Sorry that I haven't been very active on the slides/wiki, I'm finishing up my Database Systems project for Tuesday then I'll devote more time to this.
@cbg83 and @Cryoman-R, your descriptions on the wiki look great! Thanks!

@damon-myers
@/all As a reminder, we will be meeting again today at 3:30. @jasholt : We could really use you there so we all know what we're presenting on Friday. Thanks!

@/all: I just went through the slides and commented on some things that could possibly be made better, please give them a short review and let me know what you think!
@jasholt: Please complete the Denial of Service - Results slide, I took care of the other two. If you are having trouble accessing the slides, here is the correct link to them again: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Pfb_PjQaLV_GVa5C1Sb1U4ZGjK3jmg92iVTx-mim_RM/edit?usp=sharing

Finally got in contact with someone on the Ubertooth IRC and I was wrong about the calculated UAP. It's just a single byte. Lol. So we are missing 16 bits of the address.
dginn
@dginn
All, I changed my slides based on input. Open to feedback. Thanks, Dustin.
