    @ErinBecker
    Thanks @sstevens2 and welcome everyone!
    @JasonJWilliamsNY's first hilarious joke of the morning "What's the average fail rate for a hard-drive?"
    100%!
    Sarah Stevens
    @sstevens2
    Erin suggests we rename /home so it isn't as confusing with /home/dcuser the actual 'home directory'.
    Jason Williams
    @JasonJWilliamsNY
    I'll file an issue

    /home is a default folder expected by UNIX systems. I don't know if it's possible (or advisable) to rename it...
    Jason Williams
    @JasonJWilliamsNY
    One could rename it, but I agree I would rather explain it since it will be something they encounter frequently
    Sarah Stevens
    @sstevens2
    My comments in the issue.
    Sarah Stevens
    @sstevens2
    @JasonJWilliamsNY Do you think that issue should go into the docker image repo or the lesson repo?
    Jason Williams
    @JasonJWilliamsNY
    checking it may already be a docker issue...
    There were 2 or 3 cases like this I remember
    Sarah Stevens
    @sstevens2
    Yeah I noticed that with trimmomatic as well
    Jason Williams
    @JasonJWilliamsNY
    I suggested that we edit the lesson to say that your output may look different on docker
    We could also make changes to the docker image
    Sarah Stevens
    @sstevens2
    there is an exercise that has you look at the adapter files it installs with it but only the nextera one is there
    Jason Williams
    @JasonJWilliamsNY
    whichever choices will be how the issue resolves
    Yes
    Sarah Stevens
    @sstevens2
    I'm fine with either, though if many go on to use this image maybe we want to remove that exercise in data wrangling then?
    Jason Williams
    @JasonJWilliamsNY
    whatever is decided is fine with me

    Ooops were not seeing Erin right now
    Jason Williams
    @JasonJWilliamsNY
    Let me see..
    Sarah Stevens
    @sstevens2
    I'll try to fix during the exercise..
    Unless you think we should interrupt? I hesitate since it isn't a lesson related interruption.
    Jason Williams
    @JasonJWilliamsNY
    I think its ok
    We are seeing the screen
    Sarah Stevens
    @sstevens2
    Ok great
    will fix at next exercise
    Jason Williams
    @JasonJWilliamsNY
    I guess maybe she needs to step off/on mat again
    We should have a hand single for this!
    Sarah Stevens
    @sstevens2
    Indeed...
    So this section on fastq encoding is repeated in the data wrangling. Is that intentional? or something that needs an issue
    Sarah Stevens
    @sstevens2
    On the camera front, it might be stuck? It hasn't adjusted when other people have used their table mics now either.
    Jason Williams
    @JasonJWilliamsNY
    I agree
    We will test and call AV if needed at lunch
    Sarah Stevens
    @sstevens2

    Created this issue about the backup folder existing in image prior to lesson

    An idea for permissions: datacarpentry/shell-genomics#223

    @fmichonneau
    where should we open an issue about the data being split incorrectly?
    Jason Williams
    @JasonJWilliamsNY
    I think it goes in the lesson - we don't have a repo for the data itself
    Sarah Stevens
    @sstevens2
    The camera is not on Jason again. Did someone talk to the AV person this morning?
    Sarah Stevens
    @sstevens2
    Ok think it might be fixed? it is that weird thing with the microphone needs to be plugged in and wasn't...

    @maneesha
    Hi all - I know this space hasn't been used in almost two years. As The Carpentries is trying to track and consolidate all our communications platforms, I wanted to see if this Gitter is being used, and if there are any active users or admins on the platform now. Feel free to respond here or email me at maneeesha@carpentries.org. Thanks all!
    Mateusz Kuzak
    @mkuzak
    Hi Maneesha. I have not used it in a very long time. With the many other channels, I don't see the advantage of keeping that one active.
