Hey all, I had a problem using mycli in Ubuntu, that it returned 255 when I ran it.
Any idea what's going on here?

@nbari This issue has been fixed in the newer version of cli_helpers which is a dependency of mycli. Please upgrade using pip install -U cli_helpers.
@kimfucious I hope you figured out how to run the command after editing it. You just press enter and that command will be executed by mysql.

Hey all!! Been playing with this tool now for a little bit, and its awesome!! Just have one question though... Is there any work being done to make JSON a style\type of output formatting?? I have ran through all the available formats, and while one of them is close (I think CSV?)...would really love it if JSON was available. Any insight that anyone can share on that?? - Thanks.

Update: I have my SQL output formatted as JSON, using SELECT JSON_OBJECT('id',id,'name',NAME) AS 'JSON' FROM `table` WHERE `id` = 3;. My formatting is set to 'plain', and this is close to what I am after, but is there anyway to TRIM the header from the output? All I want is the result. Maybe a new format type called 'minimal'?

Hello, I'm newbie in SQL.
So my question is when I do
CREATE database 'something';
in MariaDB it works
but when I do it in mycli it shows
(1044, "Access denied for user ''@'localhost' to database 'something'")
What do I do?

Goodmorning. I'm new on gitter and on mycli too
I'm trying to customize stuff and I think it will be really cool to add colors to prompt (like escape codes?) so mycli and powerline could work together! What do you mean?

When I copy, there is an extra space. How do I solve this problem

156963 becomes 15 6369
What do i do? Can this be done by configuration
ACe
@alienhunter3010
No, this depends from the terminal. I think you solve with multiline enabled (F3). Remember to close query with ;
zhurongpeng
@zhurongpeng
I've tried it, and whether It's enabled or disabled, the result is the same
ACe
@alienhunter3010
You need to explicite break the query line by line on the right place
zhurongpeng
@zhurongpeng
Yes, now I also do so, I think there should be a solution, but I don't know

hi mycli users.. I'm facing an issue.. hope someone has an answer.
When I try to connect to MySQL 8 which has SSL on.. I get this error.

(3159, 'Connections using insecure transport are prohibited while --require_secure_transport=ON.')

Any trick to bypass the ssl and connect to it. Its a remote server where I dont get to control or access to certificate.

Hey all, had a quick question. On an older install I was able to have a full query autocomplete. I can't seem to get that on a new install. Anybody know how to turn that on again?
ACe
@alienhunter3010
It works for me, it uses the history, I think. So maybe you need to launch more queries, before it will be useful
Logan Weaver
@LoganW_gitlab
I wound up figuring it out. I had installed it using apt-get which for some reason on Ubuntu 18 only has version 1.8 of mycli. I installed it using PIP instead and voila I got version 1.16 and have my full query autocomplete back. Thanks for the help though!
ACe
@alienhunter3010
I'm using mycli from July 2020, and I installed it directly from pip. Good that you solve it ;)

Hello fellow mycli users! Is it possible to add aliases / custom commands into mycli?
Logan Weaver
@LoganW_gitlab
Depends on what you mean, you can favorite queries that will get set to a custom name that you can run by doing \f query_name. Here's the the docs: https://www.mycli.net/favorites hopefully that's somewhat what you were looking for?
Alex Yelluas
@hiphamster
@LoganW_gitlab Thanks, this is quite useful
