you don't like deployd-dev-cli or deployd-dpd-cli? :)
Nicolas Ritouet
@NicolasRitouet
Nov 01 2016 11:19
nope :/

@andreialecu
Nov 01 2016 11:19
I just think that dpd-* just taints the plugin ecosystem
Nicolas Ritouet
@NicolasRitouet
Nov 01 2016 11:19
shorter is better :)
Andrei Alecu
@andreialecu
Nov 01 2016 11:19
since the names are that way
Nicolas Ritouet
@NicolasRitouet
Nov 01 2016 11:19
I know, but having dev in it is weird
Andrei Alecu
@andreialecu
Nov 01 2016 11:19
well it's something that not a lot of people should install
or just install once
it's only for bootstrapping the project mostly
Nicolas Ritouet
@NicolasRitouet
Nov 01 2016 11:20
yep, once, it should be quick and easy to install
npm i dpd-cli -g is much better than npm i deployd-dev-cli -g

you think 7 more chars make that big of a difference? :)
Nicolas Ritouet
@NicolasRitouet
Nov 01 2016 11:20
actually, I really do think it does!
Andrei Alecu
@andreialecu
Nov 01 2016 11:21
deployd-dpd then?
"@angular/platform-browser-dynamic": "^2.0.2",
you should've told these guys
Nicolas Ritouet
@NicolasRitouet
Nov 01 2016 11:22
if you take a look at this, we already have a lot of dpd-* modules thata have nothing to do with it: http://docs.deployd.com/modules/
Andrei Alecu
@andreialecu
Nov 01 2016 11:22
that's a core package of angular2 for example
:)
Nicolas Ritouet
@NicolasRitouet
Nov 01 2016 11:22
but nobody is typing it, I’m just installing angular-cli when I need to bootstrap an angular2 app
Andrei Alecu
@andreialecu
Nov 01 2016 11:23
which comes from @angular/angular-cli
Nicolas Ritouet
@NicolasRitouet
Nov 01 2016 11:23
a lot of dpd-* modules are about the delivery service DPD
Andrei Alecu
@andreialecu
Nov 01 2016 11:23
already way longer than what I was proposing
Nicolas Ritouet
@NicolasRitouet
Nov 01 2016 11:23
you type npm install angular-cli to install it, not @angular/angular-cli
Andrei Alecu
@andreialecu
Nov 01 2016 11:24
it just feels that by mismatching deployd and dpd-cli then suggesting people install dpd-s3 dpd-email and dpd-event we're losing consistency
if the main package was called dpd instead of deployd it would've been fine
Nicolas Ritouet
@NicolasRitouet
Nov 01 2016 11:25
like I said, there’s a lot of dpd-* modules that are not related to deployd
Andrei Alecu
@andreialecu
Nov 01 2016 11:25
99% are
Nicolas Ritouet
@NicolasRitouet
Nov 01 2016 11:25
no, way less
Andrei Alecu
@andreialecu
Nov 01 2016 11:26
https://www.npmjs.com/search?q=dpd not according to this
Nicolas Ritouet
@NicolasRitouet
Nov 01 2016 11:27
I see a few of them related to Dpd the delivery service
but anyway, let’s not talk hours on this
Andrei Alecu
@andreialecu
Nov 01 2016 11:28
just dpd-parcel-service and dpd-tualo
there are 4 other pages with just deployd based packages after
*tualo-dpd rather

deployd has always been about simplicity, having a simple way to install it (not having to copy paste make it simple) is important imho
and if we don’t publish dpd-cli, somebody will at some point
@here any opinion on this?
we plan to extract the CLI from the core. We have the option to use dpd-cli or deployd-dev-cli on npm. What do you think?
Andrei Alecu
@andreialecu
Nov 01 2016 11:35
or deployd-dpd or deployd-dpd-cli
or how about moving the main package to @deployd/core and having @deployd/cli
Nicolas Ritouet
@NicolasRitouet
Nov 01 2016 11:37
that’s a good idea that I would implement only after resolving the issue with npm support (in progress)
in the meanwhile, to start working with it, let’s use dpd-cli, at least, we reserve the name, we can change later
