I don’t know about all the Jenkins dislike... I mean, sure there are better tools, but also if you avoid all the pitfalls and use Argo/Flux to deploy it in K8s it’s actually really smooth... Not saying that it’d be my first choice though, but also not my last ;)
And by “all” the pitfalls, I mean, the main obvious ones... realised how that sounded after reading it back 😅
If you know how to cook Jenkins - you can do pretty much anything. However if you are new to it probably go for something else. Just doesn’t make sense to spend time learning all of the pitfalls
I would say gitlab/github ci is quite good
That’s a very agreeable statement. We recently started using GCP CloudBuild using terraform for the setup
That’s such a Lego like CI system
Really liked that github actions have outputs for every step that you can reference in other steps.
Would say a podcast on CI tools would be fun, but not sure if we want to open Pandora’s box with that one...
You always need to pass some info from one step to another and it is very neat implementation
We could definitely do that and have you back
How about discussing progressive delivery and ci/cd tools in general with @jlarfors next week?
I know we wanted to discuss something else but we can take a bit later. What do you think @mattiashem ?
Sounds good lets do talk "progressive delivery and ci/cd tools" Wednesday and then do "wazuh and IDS " next time ? @jlarfors Shall i send invite? And @/all any else want to jump in as well in the battle of CI / CD tools :-)
Would this also include talks on GitOps and tools like FluxCD/ArgoCD?
So “Progressive delivery” to include deployment?
Personally I think the topic is very relevant for CI... kinda changes the pipeline game
Yee we hade a talk before about gitops. But as you said "Game changer" :-) You can bring up anything you like during the talk no hard agendas
