I'm using this code to open the websocket
var ws_scheme = window.location.protocol == "https:" ? "wss" : "ws";
socket = new WebSocket(ws_scheme + "://" + window.location.host + "/");
and the function socket.onmessage for communication
and in the code also have calls using 'url' of the django templates
