@dmvaldman
but yeah all those things named CONSTANTS are usually attached the the constructor. that magic happens in the View base class
Richard Kopelow
@richardkopelow
@dmvaldman I embedded a youtube video in a surface, the surface is in a container surface, that container surface is in a scroll view. when the mouse is over the youtube video, the scrollview doesn't scroll. any ideas?
David Valdman
@dmvaldman
do all of those things need to happen for you to not be able to scroll?
if you could isolate the issue that would help, or provide an example
Erik Allik
@eallik

/.../ let's assume a parent size of [w, h] and a node size of [w', h'] /.../
An origin value of [x,y] will produce a translation of [-w * x', -h * y'] /.../

but shouldn't it say "will produce a translation of [-w' * x, -h' * x]"?

David Valdman
@dmvaldman
@eallik that's correct, my mistake!
will update the docs to reflect that soon
Erik Allik
@eallik
there was some other error of similar nature, but I forgot where it was...
David Valdman
@dmvaldman
ha, quite possible!
if you find it again, let me know
Erik Allik
@eallik

http://samsarajs.org/reference_docs/classes/Streams.Stream.html

— in the example, where do positionStream and sizeStream come from? position and size by any chance?

David Valdman
@dmvaldman
hmm, yes. also that example is very out of date
David Valdman
@dmvaldman
oh maybe it will, actually. things have just evolved a lot in this branch i'm working on :-)
nope, it won't. at least not in v2.3+
streams no longer listen to the resize event
only start, update and end
David Valdman
@dmvaldman
I got an email @eallik that you asked "is it a good idea to work on that branch instead?" but it doesn't appear here. Maybe you deleted it after asking? Or Gitter is buggy
Erik Allik
@eallik
yeah, I deleted it because I thought it wasn't that important, but didn't realize you'd get an e-mail :)
David Valdman
@dmvaldman
hehe, yeah. #asyncProblems
Either way, the master branch, or v0.2.4 are stable. I'd work off those
Erik Allik
@eallik
ok, good to know
David Valdman
@dmvaldman
the unstable stuff I've been doing on other branches. that's why master has been quiet recently
what are you trying to build? if you don't mind my asking
Erik Allik
@eallik
I don't even know exactly... I'm experimenting
David Valdman
@dmvaldman
sounds good. i'm always around if you have more questions
Erik Allik
@eallik
thanks!

Hi Three! is there any example of integration with Angular2? does it make sense?
sampleapp
@sampleapp
How can i attached existing DOM element with a Surface?
In Angular2 i want to create very flat set of div elements and associate them with Surface and let samsara do their work.
currently looks like it is not possible to attach a existing div with surface.

Hi @sampleapp you can use that hack for now
as fas as I know there's still not official way to do it.
sampleapp
@sampleapp
@frh3ddy thanks Fredy, i did on the same idea sent me. I used DOMAllocator where instead of creating new element it finds existing element and return it - for POC it looks ok.
Thanks.
Any caution note on performance side, if multiple context are being used? Is Samsara optimized for multiple context or single context is more performant than multiple? o
Fredy Mendez
@frh3ddy
Containersurface creates a new context, but I believe is recommended to avoid multiple context
Fredy Mendez
@frh3ddy
I made a POC video of samsara working in TabrisJS a mobile framework that lets you develop native iOS and Android apps from a single code base written entirely in JavaScript, similar to react-native, nativeScript or Fusetools, I like tabrisjs but I don't like the layout System and the limited animations. so I decided to see if samsara can work with tabris. check the video if you are interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAmZccfnF64
tabris has some missing transforms to be able to do 3D, but for layout and animations is good enough, also it doesn't support multitouch events, so I have to modify a little bit the touchTracker code
Richard Kopelow
@richardkopelow
Is there a way to get the true dimensions of a surface with [undefined, undefined] size?
Fredy Mendez
@frh3ddy
I believe you can listen for the size end event,
mySurface.size.on('end', size => { console.log('surface Dimensions:: ', size) })
Richard Kopelow
@richardkopelow
Thanks

Hi Ya'll, working on a samsarajs app and super excited to kick the tires of samsarajs
right now I'm wondering if its possible to have a horizontal scrollview inside of a vertical scrollview... i tried it out myself and i wasn't able to scroll down after I came cross the horizontal scrollview
excited, thanks again Dave!
David Valdman
@dmvaldman
:raised_hands:
send me your code! maybe this is a touch events problem
Reza Ali
@rezaali
Hey Dave! I abandoned the scrollview in a scrollview approach, just using one paginated scrollview for now
getting some weird behavior tho, sometimes, when the scrollview is scrolled and paginated is true the scrollview doesn't stop exactly at the edge of the current page
@dmvaldman any advise would be sweet... been looking at the source and can't really figure out where to inject changes...\
