This step can take sometime. Also try running 'dokku rebuild app' on the server.

i have finished deploy node-js-app successfully and i can access nginx, but i can not access http://node-js-app.dokku-alt
can someboy help?
Romans Malinovskis
@romaninsh
Looks like networking issue. See which ports are open. Use dokku enter to peek inside container.
duu
@duudo
could u pls tell which prot is dokku alt need to run the deployed app?
duu
@duudo
@romaninsh if i want to deploy node-js-app into dokku, what neccessary network setting shold i have? please help? I have hang here for a while
Romans Malinovskis
@romaninsh
It's pretty similar to original dokku, you should be able to figure it out. Take a few steps back and read about docker
duu
@duudo
@romaninsh thanks a lot, i will try dokku today.

@romaninsh hi, i was confused with this config page, is the hostname for some containner? For the hostname is not my static ip address
Romans Malinovskis
@romaninsh
if you will be running apps on it, they need to have a default domain
point *.foo.com towards your server's IP and specify it here.
duu
@duudo
@romaninsh if so, i think i need system admin's help to resolve domain problem
Romans Malinovskis
@romaninsh
You'll have to try and do it on your own. I think you need to look for a more simple solution. Dokku-alt is in a pretty "RAW" state, it does not have a lot of guides and it's not even actively maintained. If you use it you must be very well familiar with it's internal structure.
duu
@duudo
the network of my office was controlled by SA, the domain should be set by them
You are right, I am not even familiar with docker, all the simple app deploy of dokku and dokku-alt are failed
i am so confused
but i want to control these paas
Romans Malinovskis
@romaninsh
Problem with dokku-alt is that it has not been maintained and setup instructions are now generate errors and you need to have some deep knowledge to get around them.
duu
@duudo
should i start with docker?
Romans Malinovskis
@romaninsh
yeah probably. And look into "DOKKU" (without -alt) which has a much larger community and some good activity.
You can also see alternative products such as Flynn
(i meant dokku)
duu
@duudo
i tried dokku ruby-rails-sample deploy today, failed again
i 'll try it again
Romans Malinovskis
@romaninsh
Dokku-alt wanted to be a better out-of-the-box experience than 'dokku'.
okay.
Sorry man, I used Dokku-alt myself in few projects
But there were no developer activity on it fro over a year, so I'll be looking to migrate to something else at some point.
duu
@duudo
i have found somebody use dokku-alt and then migrate to herok or docker related paas, but i still think it's an amazing product, i am eager to have a deep learning of it, thanks for your patient with my problems
Ryan Watts
@rwatts3
is their a toolchain like heroku for dokku ?
Romans Malinovskis
@romaninsh
not sure, i'm not familiar with heroku. There are buildpacks and the same ones are usable as for Heroku.
duu
@duudo
Importing herokuish into docker (around 5 minutes)
this takes far more than 5 m
duu

It's worth of getting up early in the morming, dokku sample deployed successfully
Romans Malinovskis
@romaninsh
Nice, well done.
duu
@duudo
i am back to heroku
duu
@duudo
@romaninsh hi, have u found some new platform to replace dokku-alt?
Romans Malinovskis
@romaninsh
no i'm not using it anymore.
duu
@duudo
so which platform have u used to replace dokku-alt?
Romans Malinovskis
@romaninsh
i am no longer running server.
duu
@duudo
can i config easyengine into dokku? has anyone done something like this?
Nikolay Stoynov
@arvigeus
Why this:
/home/user/storage/publications/:/app/build/public/publications/
mounts to this:
/app/build/public/publications/publications
?
How can I fix it?

Hey guys Can I use AWS ec2 public DNS instead of Elastic IP as IP doesn't work with CNAME.??? Will subdomain will work ??
IAmNatch
@IAmNatch
Hey! Anyone around to answer a dokku/dokku-alt conceptual question?
Romans Malinovskis
@romaninsh
answer would probably be - don't use stay away , project is not active.
