Gouda
@GoudaOnBeamPro
you got me haha
you know what I mean
Dawid Ciężarkiewicz
@dpc
So how did you deal with the lack of terminfo files or something like that?
Gouda
@GoudaOnBeamPro
Not sure there is a lack of such or not
where would I find that?
lmao I google "freebsd terminfo" and it's all about ncurses
hmmmmmmm
Dawid Ciężarkiewicz
@dpc
google "putty freebsd 256 color" or something like that ; i sent you a link yesteday about creating some files manually
Gouda
@GoudaOnBeamPro
I did that already, but that's termcap
I think I need to do something with terminfo
Gouda
@GoudaOnBeamPro
looks more like what I need. But it's horribly outdated, so I'll read the man pages and see what can be done in a similar way
thanks ^.^
Gouda
@GoudaOnBeamPro
gonna sleep on it. I feel like I'm getting closer to fixing it haha
night y'all
thanks again for the help!

@chipsenkbeil
I take it this gitter channel isn't really used anymore.
Dawid Ciężarkiewicz
@dpc
@chipsenkbeil I'm here. I can answer questions.
Rhex as a project doesn't get much action, that's all.
Chip Senkbeil
@chipsenkbeil
Is the demo server still available? Docs say to use password rhex123, but that doesn't seem to be the password anymore.
Was looking into trying the project out, maybe get my feet wet in a little Rust.
Dawid Ciężarkiewicz
@dpc
Oh. I was hosting that on friends server, and didn't pay attention for months now.
I think it should be really easy to run manually.
Antonio Scotti
@giTonyx
@dpc Hello! I stumbled across this project and noticed that it doesn't build anymore. I have a fix, if you want (not that's anything complex at all)
Antonio Scotti
@giTonyx
Guess no one comes here anymore...
Dawid Ciężarkiewicz
@dpc
It never was a popular place. :D

For hex2d-rs, how would publishing work?
Currently 0.3.0 on repo, but 0.2.0 on crates.io. dpc/hex2d-rs#27 brings up deprecations for removing with a 0.4.0. I'm leaning towards having 0.4.0 be 1.0
Seth Taylor
@tzargoth
Attempted to build rhex a couple days ago, but it failed. Updated to latest rand, num, etc crates, and it now compiles, but it game play, there are a couple odd issues:
1) empty areas display with 'M' instead of dot (bullet)
2) gobbledygook is displayed to the far left of the visible area where there are lighted areas
I have no idea where the 'M' is coming from. dot is specified as unicode 2022 in the consts.rs, and I see no place where 'M' is used.
Seth Taylor
@tzargoth
And, closed doors also appear as 'M'. Open doors and other features appear normal, AFAIK.
Seth Taylor
@tzargoth
I could be wrong, but these errors appear to be the result of attempting to print unicode characters with ncurses instead of using ncursesw. Using . (period) and x (lowercase letter) instead of the unicode symbols specified in the consts.rs source seems to work fine.
Seth Taylor
@tzargoth
Ah ... figured it out. Need wide feature in Cargo.toml: ncurses = { version = "5.86.0", features = ["wide"] }
