Hi guys, just came across drone kit. Seems really fun. Never played with drones before. What drones can I buy to develop with drone kit? (Any links would be great!)

@SalicBlu3 If you are thinking about writing a ground-station based app then anything from http://3drobotics.com/ or which runs ArduPilot flight congtroller (in theory anything that supports MAVLink, but we only verify ArduPilot based flight controllers). If you want to write a "companion computer" dronekit app (one which travels on the device and controls it) then you will need to add a companion computer to your vehicle. At the moment the only one I know of out of the box that has a companion computer with DroneKit is Solo - http://3drobotics.com/ - but this is an old version that will be updated "soon".
So basically "depends a bit on what you want to do"

Thanks so much Hamish,
I think I'll get started with a simple ground station based one. What's the cheapest option to start learning on?
I was hoping to get some experience in drone technology.

The cheapest way is to use a simulator. That way you can test your code and see how it would work without a real device. I like Python, so I'd suggest reading http://python.dronekit.io/ . This is a good if you might want to write a companion computer app at some point. If you're already familiar with Android then use http://android.dronekit.io/ with the simulator.
