    Could not run phased build action using Gradle distribution 'https://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-5.6.1-bin.zip'.
    Execution failed for task ':xtext-lib:org.eclipse.xtend.lib:compileJava'.
    Compilation failed; see the compiler error output for details.

    this is unusal
    but might be related to the bom
    if you dont have it nowhere e.g. in mavenlocal
    do you have a 2.20.0-SNAPSHOT bom in maven local
    repo
    Lorenzo Bettini
    @LorenzoBettini
    probably I found the cause: during the setup the JRE wasn't set (who knows why), thus, of course, nothing from Java could be found ;)
    let's see if now things get better
    no... still tons of errors... many things cannot be resolved... after Oomph setup has finished should I run any further command manually?
    Christian Dietrich
    @cdietrich
    i dont know
    depends on which parts
    and what your machine has ever seen
    errors in lib?
    Lorenzo Bettini
    @LorenzoBettini
    anything from com.google cannot be resolved... in xbase.lib for instance
    Christian Dietrich
    @cdietrich
    is dev bom in your local maven repo
    Lorenzo Bettini
    @LorenzoBettini
    I cloned also Xtext-Maven if that's what you ask...
    but in .m2 there's dev bom for Xtext 2.20
    Christian Dietrich
    @cdietrich
    did you do a gradle refresh gradle projects on the root?
    gralde-composite in root workking set
    Lorenzo Bettini
    @LorenzoBettini
    it fails with errors of the shape
    > Task :xtext-lib:org.eclipse.xtend.lib:compileJava FAILED
    xtext-lib/org.eclipse.xtend.lib/xtend-gen/org/eclipse/xtend/lib/annotations/FinalFieldsConstructorProcessor.java:211: error: 'else' without 'if'
    return; else {
    Christian Dietrich
    @cdietrich
    did you do a stash+
    on all
    Lorenzo Bettini
    @LorenzoBettini
    ?
    Christian Dietrich
    @cdietrich
    due the provious errors the xtend-gens may contains bad stuff
    so maybe a stash on all repos helps
    ./gitAll stash in umbrella on non windows
    Lorenzo Bettini
    @LorenzoBettini
    I did a git reset on the lib projects, now gradle refresh seems to work... let's see...
    Lorenzo Bettini
    @LorenzoBettini
    so things get better... but then I have to clean each single project manually...
    Christian Dietrich
    @cdietrich
    hmm no idea on that
    the problem might be that it was initially bad
    i dont have any resever machines to try
    Lorenzo Bettini
    @LorenzoBettini
    The problem is that a "Clean All" make things worse... most of all the problems are Xtend files, e.g., with (active) annotations, which need a clean after the corresponding projects already compile fine...
    Christian Dietrich
    @cdietrich
    hmmm i wonder if this a follow up of the lib problem
    my assumption would be that the downstream build would work when lib is fine
    but who knows
    Lorenzo Bettini
    @LorenzoBettini
    so things compile now, but I have to leave without working on what I had planned... ;) maybe tomorrow
    Christian Dietrich
    @cdietrich
    yes thats bad. but still have no clue if this is a follow up problem of the initial on
    there still might be issues in xtend-maven
    that are the only ones "expected"
    Lorenzo Bettini
    @LorenzoBettini
    I'll try to see what happens when starting really from scratch...
    what's sad is that a "Clean All" does not work... resetting (or stashing) will make sure that the generated Java files are OK, but then you still get errors on the Xtend files, and those must be removed with an explicit clean only on the projects with errors
    Christian Dietrich
    @cdietrich
    well and this is what i dont understand
    maybe this a bug in active annotation processing
    but without any clue how to reproduce this in a smaller case ..
