Hey @sethvincent, been following this project and quite interested in where it’s going. Do you have a roadmap / vision for it typed up anywhere?
Seth Vincent
@sethvincent
@timwis i was just starting to put one together!
my current project is this: https://github.com/editdata/submit-data
the goal of which is to have a form that can append a row to a json or csv file in a github repo
just started it so it's in prototype phase
Tim Wisniewski
@timwis
cool - take a look at this when you get a chance: prose/prose#911
and a newer idea i posted, prose/prose#934
Seth Vincent
@sethvincent
@timwis awesome! prose is getting super interesting with these changes

@timwis
i must say, i’m impressed with your toolset! yo-yo, tape, surge, standard… looks like we follow some of the same JS people on github :P
I was just trying out submit-data. Coincidentally, I implemented something really similar over the last week on JKAN (timwis.com/JKAN) - click edit on a dataset to see what i mean. as with yours, it doesn’t work unless you’re a collaborator on the repo, but you get the idea - just makes a commit on github, rebuilding the jekyll site.
Seth Vincent
@sethvincent
oh nice JKAN is a great idea
i think submit-data should let people make a pull request without being a collaborator, though i guess i haven't tested that yet. i'll have to make a test account
Seth Vincent
@sethvincent
confirmed: anyone logged in via github can open a pull request via the submit-data demo
my end goal with submit-data is to make it a module that projects like JKAN could use as a dependency
Tim Wisniewski
@timwis
oh, that’s interesting… definitely interested in that.
Seth Vincent
@sethvincent
i've published editdata-github to npm, which is a library that simplifies the "fork -> branch -> commit changes to csv/json -> pull request" workflow: npmjs.com/editdata-github
there's still a lot of work to do on that module, but it's ready to make some demos on top of it and figure out what improvements might be made

@timwis
cool, @sethvincent. i assume you’re quite familiar with the michael/github js api?
also, curious if you’ve checked out PapaParse, and what you thought of it

What's the current project work?
Wondering if I might be helpful
Seth Vincent
@sethvincent
@todrobbins i've been rewriting the components to use bel/choo. next step is to build some prototypes to make sure they work ok

@todrobbins
