hi all devs out there, can someone imagine how effektif could be used in a relational database?

@teamc_gm_twitter Not sure what you mean. Can you clarify your question?

i'd like to implement effektif as workflow engine in a java environment - but the problem is, that there is no mongo db availible. how would i handle this?

effektif only works with mongo. relational db is not an option

what does mongo db mainly do? does it the CRUD operation services?

it stores the workflows and workflow instances and other things

thx a lot, tom! please let me ask you one last question: do you see any chance/possibility to store that information to another database, for example by JPA?

imo, that is not possible without a huge refactoring. i don't think a refactoring like that is possible given our roadmap.

You’re both talking about the hosted cloud service, now called Signavio Workflow, and not the open-source Effektif engine right?

i was talking about the effektif open source engine

hi Peter, i am talking about the open-source effektif engine, too. i would like to adapt the functionality and use those workflow objects - but in a relational database, like oracle mssql or something like that.

Right, just checking. Then you would indeed have to do lots of customisation, by writing your own JPA/SQL-backed implementations of the datastore interfaces, like WorkflowStore and WorkflowInstanceStore. As Tom says, that’s not something we’re planning to do ourselves.
@teamc_gm_twitter I’m curious: why don’t you want to run on MongoDB?

@hilton the reason is, that we develop our solution on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform. There are only HANA or Sybase ASE availible.

Okay, interesting, thanks.

Would be great to have HANA support, though a big challenge i think.

I have to say thanks for your both responses. I will dive into the code maybe during next week and check out how effektif works internally and how i could implement an JPA based solution on top of it. thanks for the classes to start with!
@tombaeyens i fully agree with you! maybe we can find a way to do it.
