using emails to start another process is prevented. we had a problem with loops earlier. we will add the call activity as a feature later
Peter Hilton
@hilton
aarg - mobile fail
Tom Baeyens
@tombaeyens
hehe
Stefano
@esseti
thanks. when more or less?
Peter Hilton
@hilton
You need a Call Activity
Stefano
@esseti
yes i know, but it's not in the palette
Peter Hilton
@hilton
It's planned for the next month or two.
Stefano
@esseti
ok, cool.
Peter Hilton
@hilton
You can't do that with an email task and email trigger, because we ignore Effekt
if notifications to avoid loops
oh, Tom already said that
Stefano
@esseti
i understood. in case i'll make an ad hoc rest service that can be called via JS and that sends the email with some limits on the usage
Tom Baeyens
@tombaeyens
that could work, but i can’t tell by heart
Stefano
@esseti
ok, no problem it should somehow. or does it check that emails ?
Peter Hilton
@hilton
Related: today I started experimenting with the experimental Variable Mapping activity type, to make the trigger email body available in a script task, so I can parse JSON from a trigger email.
It should work if you send mail from your own web service. Just no infinite loops please.
Stefano
@esseti
yes, i can image that that may be a problem. i'll try to avoid it if possible.
Tom Baeyens
@tombaeyens
rather then sending an email, you could also perform an http request to start a workflow. but this is really hacky. as you have to reverse engineer the http request.
Stefano
@esseti
seems rather more complex that the email approach.
Stefano
@esseti
Hello, it's me, I was wondering if there's a mailing list or a place where i can get updated by the new features released in the code and made available in the tool online (the one available in effektif.com website)
Philipp Giese
@frontendphil
Hey @esseti not right now, but we’re currently working to have a feature like this in place. Anyway @hilton is doing a great job by keeping our blog at effektif.com up to date
Stefano
@esseti
that should be enough, thanks
Peter Hilton
@hilton
@esseti I also tweet about new features and link to new user guide sections, and blog posts at https://twitter.com/effektifbpm/

Hello.
In the script task i can read form data, that's super easy. Now, is there a way to read email data if the process starts with an email?
Is there a way to store a variable from a script task and have it accessible by a following task, example: i set a variable in a script task and then i add this value to a row in a google spreadsheet..
Peter Hilton
@hilton
At the moment, the script task doesn’t have access to the mail. This is because Email, File and User variables only store an ID. What's needed is a way to use this ID to fetch the object from the backend. We’re about to start working on this; today I was looking at what the script task needs to be able to make the API request.
As for the second question, a script task can update one of the variables that is mapped on the configuration panel in the process editor - you can read as well as write these values.
create variable.png
Use this field to create a new variable: select a type, enter a name and click the Create button. You can then use this variable in a subsequent task, such as Add row to sheet.
Stefano
@esseti
many thanks
Stefano
@esseti
Just noticed that the map to the add row sheet works only for variables that are of type "text" . that's why i was not able to do it at the beginning, i was using a money variable.
Peter Hilton
@hilton
Ah, right. That's a temporary limitation, obviously. We’ll be replacing that with a mechanism where you can use any variable. For now, you could use a script task to copy the money variable’s amount and currency into text variables, for use on the sheet. If you get the number format right, the sheet can have number cells in that column.

@SilentGert
pro tip: you can use spreadsheet formulas =3 + 4 as the row values
Stefano
@esseti
thanks
Stefano
@esseti
hello, i just noticed a "bug". If i export a process that has description, and then reimport it, the description is not shown. But it's present in the file.
Tom Baeyens
@tombaeyens
Thanks, @esseti I'll file a bug report and we'll investigate
Peter Hilton
@hilton
@esseti description is now imported, fixed by effektif/effektif@8653b90
thank you for the report
Christian Wiggert
@SilentGert
but it is not live on app.effektif.com, is it?
Peter Hilton
@hilton
no
sorry, I meant fixed for next release
Stefano
@esseti
+1
Stefano
@esseti
Hello, is it possible to read values in a form? example: the trigger is a form with a field Name. Then i've a user task that display the Name that was used in the trigger.
I tried with # but no luck
Peter Hilton
@hilton
On the user task form builder, use the option to Click to find existing fields for reuse
Christian Wiggert
@SilentGert
you can also set it to read only :)
Stefano
@esseti
lovely, i thought it was just to simplify the creation of the form and there were no data linked. i should RTFM ;) thanks

Hi, there is some best practice on how to custom the look and feel of Effektif to meet company standard colors for example?
Philipp Giese
@frontendphil
Hey there, if you decide to go with Effektif in your company we can change the color theme for you and also include your logo. Hopefully at some point in the future you will be able to do this yourself but in the meantime this is a service we offer
