    Someone asked a question about the dress code for presentations...
    huntdthomas
    @huntdthomas

    I'm having trouble getting input() to work in Python 3. raw_input() in Python 2 generates an area to enter text, but I'm not getting this on Python 3.
    Brian E. Granger
    @ellisonbg
    In Python 3, raw_input was renamed to input. I just tried it in the notebook and it worked fine

    I'm a little confused by the presentation times from the email. The class goes from 2 to 4, and on the final exam schedule, it seems like this points to 1-4 on Monday.
    But the spreadsheet in the email points to 10-1 on Wednesday. Are the presentations at a different time than the final period?

    Was assignment13 released? It looks like nbgrader does not have any listed assignments, I may have missed downloading it.
    Brian E. Granger
    @ellisonbg
    Hmm, let me look at the final exam schedule - I may have messed up the times...
    @telthien I think you missed that there are two tabs on that spreadsheet, one for each section. I don't think that I messed up the times...
    Noah Sutton-Smolin
    @telthien
    Oh, shoot. That'd do it.
    Sorry 'bout that!
    Brian E. Granger
    @ellisonbg
    no problem - honestly though - it is surprisingly difficult to get this all straight...
    Noah Jan Miller
    @millernj
    So what exactly are each section's presentation times? @ellisonbg

    I keep getting this error for all of my notebooks: Dead Kernel The kernel has died, and the automatic restart has failed. It is possible the kernel cannot be restarted. If you are not able to restart the kernel, you will still be able to save the notebook, but running code will no longer work until the notebook is reopened.
    Is this a problem with my internet connection?
    Brian E. Granger
    @ellisonbg
    Try reloading the page
    jegibbs
    @jegibbs
    That still didn't work. I have tried shutting down all the notebooks, logging out, closing my browser, and reconnecting to the internet and even that didn't work. I keep getting the same message
    Brian E. Granger
    @ellisonbg
    @jegibbs I just restarted your server. Can you give it a shot again. If that doesn't work, I think it may be related to your internet connection.
    If it still is not working, can you stop by my office later today (sometime after noon).
    jegibbs
    @jegibbs
    Okay so I was trying other notebooks and it seems that it is only notebooks in my project folder that still aren't working so I guess I'll just make a new folder and see if that works
    Natasha Proctor
    @nproctor
    @ellisonbg Do you have office hours today?
    Brian E. Granger
    @ellisonbg
    @jegibbs that is really odd and I don't see how that is possible
    jegibbs
    @jegibbs
    @ellisonbg it was strange, but I copy and pasted what I had in those notebooks into notebooks in a new folder and they work. The notebooks in the original folder still don't work though and new notebooks in that same folder also don't work.
    Natasha Proctor
    @nproctor
    @ellisonbg Are you in your office now, or will you be sometime soon?
    Brian E. Granger
    @ellisonbg
    I am leaving now for a few, but back soon.
    Natasha Proctor
    @nproctor
    Ok, thank you.
    James Amarel
    @JAmarel
    I am also having issues with the Kernel dying and not being able to connect
    ajhenrikson
    @ajhenrikson
    @ellisonbg have you seen posted assignment 13 yet?
    Brian E. Granger
    @ellisonbg
    Yep, just a few minutes ago :)

    @ellisonbg When will resubmitted homework grades be sent back?
    Brian E. Granger
    @ellisonbg
    I will be making another grading pass on resubmitted homeworks in the next few days. When I do that you will get another feedback email.

    evandrake20
    @evandrake20
    I'm trying to git add and commit my assignments to git hub but I keep getting a "Aborting commit due to empty commit message." error
    phungkh
    @phungkh
    try inputing a description to the commit before you exit out
    @evandrake20
    evandrake20
    @evandrake20
    I did and I keep getting the error message, when you git commit you name it writeout and then append it right?

    how does one move folders around. i know i need to use cp and mv but i dont know hoe
    brettavedisian
    @brettavedisian
    mv path/sourcefolder path/destinationfolder
    moving a random folder to a different directory ex:
    mv phys202/phys202-2015-work/assignments/assignment01 phys202/phys202-2015-work/days
    make sure you're in the top level of the shell
    rywerth
    @rywerth
    perfect thanks man
    brettavedisian
    @brettavedisian
    no problem
    Natasha Proctor
    @nproctor
    I need help with something similar. My phys202 and my current project work folder are both in my home directory. I want to move my project work into the repo clone inside of phys202 called "phys202-project". How do I do this?
    brettavedisian
    @brettavedisian
    It should be the same as above.
    mv 'projectfolder' phys202/phys202-project
    I think
    Natasha Proctor
    @nproctor
    Oh yep. You're right. My bad, thank you!
    brettavedisian
    @brettavedisian
    You're welcome
