    @mbestavros Nice! I really admire their perseverance. They even have schematics https://puri.sm/posts/a-different-kind-of-transparency/
    The battery seems like it's a problem, but if you accept that it is basically a glorified landline then it's fine : P

    Interestingly, it says the only real difference between this and the much-cheaper PinePhone is the fact this has isolated its closed-source components

    I missed that part. Though I was wondering...

    What's a land line?

    that and physical kill switches for the different components like GPS, microphone, GSM etc., no?

    What's a land line?

    apparently, it's something made of aluminium in the cul-the-sac i live in :(

    Mark Bestavros
    @mbestavros

    that and physical kill switches for the different components like GPS, microphone, GSM etc., no?

    Yes, that too

    Lily Sturmann
    @lkatalin
    :100: :tada: :balloon: physical kill switches
    I believe a "land line" is what you see on a map to delineate countries.

    ha, just saw @lkatalin latest pun. Of course… nice.

    interesting article, even though it seems a bit fuzzy to me, like some of it is a bit wishful thinking (aka citation needed). Also, some if it seems contradictory to me: as you get more tired, concentrating becomes harder, which frees creativity (hmm, ok), but also, you get bet better at concentrating on a single thing.

    @MikeCamel
    Agreed. I mainly added it to poke fun at @npmccallum, tbh.

    @mbestavros Too true re: Attenborough

    David Attenborough: "here we see the nocturnal programmer: a rare breed sustained primarily on coffee and memes from out-of-syndication TV shows."

    huh, didn't know signal used SGX for contact discovery https://signal.org/blog/private-contact-discovery/
    Mark Bestavros
    @mbestavros
    that is very neat!
    Lily Sturmann
    @lkatalin
    Yeah, the Signal team's dedication there is pretty admirable
    And the approaches and concerns are kind of similar to Enarx re: absolute minimal trust relationships + putting the enclave on the server
    axel simon
    @axelsimon
    the most interesting part of this is the fact they are using SGX largely to provide reverse guarantees, ie: to the public, that they are not doing something
