@lkatalin yeah, agent forwarding with mosh doesn't work.. So I normally only use mosh from my mobile phone to msh to my home server. My internet connection at home is very stable. I also optimized WiFi channels. So basically it is faster than in the office :)

@connorkuehl Interesting, so you're saying you push changes from local to GH and then pull onto remote for testing? I've done versions of this but it ended up being a messy workflow for me for various reasons
@haraldh Wow great job on wifi optimization, haha

@lkatalin Not quite, I added our packet.com boxes as git remotes and I push directly to those, then ssh into those to do any of the hardware specific workloads I want to do

@lkatalin
I'm about to probably do some channel optimization but it will probably be "meh" connection at most

@haraldh
ethernet cables as a last resort ... to the rescue
@connorkuehl Also live in an apartment, also will ask all neighbors to stop using wifi : P (this response was delayed by the internet dropping)

@lkatalin router to ISP related... or in your LAN?
Lily Sturmann
@lkatalin
@haraldh I'm unsure what's going on and trying to troubleshoot it with nmcli etc. It was never a wonderful connection but since COVID started it's been awful. And/or my router is very old. But I prefer to rule other things out before buying a new one.
In the past I've had success switching to a less "busy" channel (at a different apartment)

@haraldh
yeah, that plays a big role
if you are near to your router I would definitely switch to an ethernet cable
Lily Sturmann
@lkatalin
That's not a terrible idea either, although with workspace-musical-chairs that could be difficult haha

@connorkuehl
@lkatalin whenever my network starts fussing I always google "comcast outage <zip code>" and when i see the teeming masses complaining about my ISP it generally confirms my assumption that it's their fault lol
also, infuriating story: comcast has an "outage" map that you have to log in to view but it doesn't let me view it when i do
connorkuehl @connorkuehl shakes fist

@haraldh
yeah.. found a long ethernet cable.. 230Mbit down ... 43Mbit up ..
thanks @connorkuehl@lkatalin for the suggestions :)

@lkatalin
@connorkuehl Comcast is bad and they should feel bad
If I could switch to any other ISP I would, but none are available
