Hi, I could use some help getting ensime-sublime running for the first time. Followed the guide at https://github.com/ensime/ensime-sublime
when I do “ensime startup” in sublime, the status bar says “initializing ensime server …” for a moment. Then that disappears, then nothing.
The ensime server and client log in sublime are empty
the ensime server terminal output didn’t reflect my try to “startup” either

@cvogt-gitter The first time you run ensime startup, it will error because it ensime needs to download everything
there should be a log where you will see the stuff download, once its done, restart sublime/atom and it should work

At least in Atom, the first time you run start server, there should be a window with the log output of ensime
As in, it should automatically come up, or at least it did for me

Ah, in sublime it might be another story. I am using atom, maybe check in ensime/sublime?

I checked all the menu items, some open logs, but they are all empty and nothing writes there during anything I do

Yeah im not sure about ensime with sublime, haven’t use it in years (it was an abondened project which was just resumed fairly recently). This is the channel for using ensime with atom though
https://gitter.im/ensime/ensime-sublime is probably where you want to go

@cvogt-gitter if you hit ctrl-` (control backtick) in sublime it brings up the console log, which is where most of the interactive messages go
might be command-` on a mac, I can't remember
print messages also come up in there, which is how I do much of the sublime-ensime plugin debugging :-)
