it's been a real struggle to get that working
the ng team wasn't helping much, so I had to kind of give up on it to get other stuff going
Martin Arvedahl
@marvedly
I understand... So to be clear, there is really no way to get testing going with angular2 as it stands? Then we will probably have to resort to an a separate angular CLI project for the front-end this time
Eric M. Dantas
@ericmdantas
I mean, you could try to figure out what's missing to get it to work - but last time I checked it was pretty annoying
so you could be better off with the angular CLI for now
Martin Arvedahl
@marvedly
Okay, thanks!

@Tobbeman
Hey Eric! I decided to move on and test other things
Thank you for your help and keep up the good work! :D

no problem, good luck :smile:

Hello, someone there?
Eric M. Dantas
@ericmdantas
yo, @Benjaminanders
Benni
@Benjaminanders
Hi Eric, how is it going?
We are working on a project based on your generator and we are now close to a deployment. The thing is we are running IIS server and so far we didnt figure out how we can deploy our project in IIS. Is there any documentation about how to build it (i guess with npm run build-dist first), what folders how to move to iis and how to configure iis to work with it?
Eric M. Dantas
@ericmdantas
well, it shouldn't be any different from any static server
the files to be served to the frontend will be in the dist folder and everything else is in the server folder
you can either use a proxy to pass the requests to the server or call the full domain from your app
Benni
@Benjaminanders
what do you mean with the server folder? I know the dist server, as this is built through build-dist command. Then when I copy that folder into iis and try to open it in the browser, it says that the node_modules folder in web server root is missing
Eric M. Dantas
@ericmdantas
your're using a client only app or fullstack?
Benni
@Benjaminanders
client only
when we run npm run watch everything works perfectly fine
it opens up in the browser and all is working
Eric M. Dantas
@ericmdantas
what client framework you're using?
ng2?
Benni
@Benjaminanders
yes ng2. And i actually made some progress in the meantime :) I copied the content of dist in the root of web server and also copied the node_modules folder into the root as well
now it works, i can login and such, only thing that is not working is the routing. When I refresh the page i get a 404 error
Eric M. Dantas
@ericmdantas
nice to hear
the 404 thing has to be changed in the iss configs
because in the dev phase, it's aliv that takes care of the routing problem
Benni
@Benjaminanders
ok, any documentation or link that you can point me to?
Eric M. Dantas
@ericmdantas
let me see

@ericmdantas have you seen https://docs.nestjs.com/
super cool
Eric M. Dantas
@ericmdantas
looks really cool
how's it any different than kraken, though?
matthew harwood
@matthewharwood
@ericmdantas it's a different set of technology. It really feels like Angular. The nomenclature is just far mor familiar.
@decorators and dependancy injections. It just feels better.
where kraken opinions is to use dustjs and grunt build tools
just old and weird
Eric M. Dantas
@ericmdantas
hmm.. that's nice to hear

Hey guys !! A newbie in the room.. :smile:
I love your generator so far going through the docs and structures..
Just a few things before I start using this one.
  1. I would like to know the structure for angular 2 based web apps .. I can see the project structure for angular 1. But is it the same for angular 2 as well ?
  1. I already have some API end points that I would like to plug them all in this one. Will I be able to do it ? (Sorry if this is a noob question, just wanted to confirm before I start and dump my codes if it isn't what I want for)...
Eric M. Dantas
@ericmdantas
Hey, @kkrishnan90. Sorry for the delay, I was on vacation.
  1. Yup, same structure.
  2. Well, that should be alright to do, the thing that could give you a bit of trouble is the folder structure, other than that, it's just copy/paste
kkrishnan90
@kkrishnan90
Thanks @ericmdantas .. I'll check on this one in a couple of days . I'm on a vacation now.. sorry for the delay.. :smile:
