Trying to work on an MQTT button/relay. I want the button to control the relay locally and then send the mqtt message. Ive received some help (I am NOT good at code) this is what a friend helped with. http://hastebin.com/oxiwogagem.axapta but I cant compile it. Disclaimer, not my original code... or added code for that matter.

@sisensee i think is more simple to send the MQTT message to the server and then the server send back the command to activate the relay

@sisensee He just posted it today. He connected a real one to the giant one, totally silly.

@jetraid I agree it would be but then there is no local control and if (insert bad even here) happens then my wife wont be happy.
@zenmanenergy Its fantastic! I kind of want one in the garage and I can call it the BRAIN of my home automation!

That's awesome. Do it! I want to see a picture! How much have you automated your garage? I'm building a workshop in my backyard. I have been doing electric for the last few weeks, but I haven't figured out how I want to put in any automation
I have a few SSRs I'm thinking about incorporating into my lighting. Have you gotten that far?

@zenmanenergy Ive been working on the house first, sadly my wiring is only 2 wire, no neutral so.... that sucks. Ive been working on using Home-Assistant and I am pretty much in love. Ive made a pool pump control panel, thinking about doing a thermostat and some sprinkler control.

I thought electric with 2 wire usually just lacked a ground for overvoltage safety. I had old knob and tube in my 100 year old house, dangerous as hell. A lot of the insulation on the wire had worn off. I ripped it all out years ago.

@sisensee Do you mean in case of a comunication failure or something similar?
The esp can fail to, and you lose the control anyway

@jetraid Correct. If the esp dies thats one thing, if the router has issues or wireless issues. I still want/need to be able to control the light.

you have to detect the switch change and when detects a change change the state of the relay and send de mqtt status to the server

@jetraid that's what I was going for. I am gonna have to go read up some more.

make 2 variables, status and statusold and compare them if are different then change the relay status and send the status to the broker else do nothing, you can use a standard light switch and detect the change from open to close o viceveras
status read from gpio
if change statusold = status
