the json is updated as part of the release process. To see it in the IDE I think you have to restart it

tried on windows and linux and both are still using 2.3.0, I guess there's a minimal propagation time, or maybe a human validation is required

Got 2.4.2 without restarting IDE on win7 just went to Boards Manager and click update

Ohm's law also tells you that 5kOhm on a 3.3V pin draws 0.66mA. The ESP is able to deliver that.

it was actually pulldown, sorry
it seems to work fine, i was just wondering if it's going to be bad in the long term
