RELEASE 2.4.2 BUG perhaps ... is anyone aware of this ? When uploading a sketch using arduino IDE 1.8.5 with arduino board 1.6.20 .. sketch upload takes a while to build/rebuild and then suddenly jumps to filaure ..COM PORT X not found ! ..there is little if any time window for a flash button press. I reverted to 2.4.1 and problem is now gone after spending hours figuring out why

Also noticed it when 2.4.2 is loaded it keeps doing the 'rebuilding options' ..for all sketches 2.4.1 does NOT do this and is faster uploading sketches

The rebuilding of everything is an IDE issue, not a core issue. The IDE problem gets triggered by things in the core code, though.
The issue seems to be gone in IDE 1.9b, and I heard somewhere that it may have been backported to the imminent 1.8.6 IDE release

Hi @devyte
@devyte how are you ?
@devyte Thank you so much for the feedback .. the issue has been driving me stone dotty !
@devyte .. the rebuilding is only prominent when 2.4.2 is loaded

Yes, as I said, there are things in our core that tend to trigger the IDE problem. I'm not aware of the details of why the IDE decides to go off the deep end so often, so I can't explain further. Just go download a newer IDE (hourly or beta) and try it out.
I don't know about the portable, I've never used it

hello, recently I have encountered a "Panic" issue,
Decoded Stack 1
Decoded Stack 2

Can anyone point out possible reasons for panics, or something specific that my code is doing that triggers Panics by looking at the stacks ?

not by only looking at the stack, you need to post the code too :D
looks like concurrent accesses to the SPIFFS though

I understand it's not possible without looking at the code, but cannot post it because of propriety issues.

By concurrent access do you mean opening another file while another is still open?

yep

No that is not the case... I have closed the file before exiting the function.

so maybe you try to access it again after closing ?

I have accessed the file later in the code.. not immediately after closing or after returning from the function.

i.e on user request, at a later point of time
But here I have not done that. It crashes after closing the file

To me it looks like oom due to fragmentation, but that's just a guess
I suggest building with oom debug
