d-anders
@d-anders
more cables when testing
Markus
@Links2004
you can connect 5V to it :)
d-anders
@d-anders
right, from the usb-->ttl adapter, didnt think of that
Markus
@Links2004
at the same port where the batterys are connected it has a LDO
d-anders
@d-anders
yeah i guessed that since it looks like it has 3 batteries
i usually power my esps from a 230v-->3v adapter btw, it works great
Markus
@Links2004
looks really usful for the ESP01
d-anders
@d-anders
yeah, but why on earth didnt they go for an usb interface
Markus
@Links2004
but it costs more then a complete ESP01
Harrison Mclean
@h4rm0n1c
they always use the bloody cts pin sigh
d-anders
@d-anders
it looks like the idea is to use it for easy programming of esp-01
connect-> program->remove
Markus
@Links2004
then you can use some duketape and jumerwires and a FTDI@3V3 ;)
d-anders
@d-anders
well true
but not if you would want to transfer the same prog to hundreds of them
Markus
@Links2004
why not when the duketape holds the wires together its the same as the board, and you dont need to press the button.

@Links2004 i use currently this reset logic.
Markus
@Links2004
yes?
onkelfunny
@onkelfunny
I have to reckon with problems?
everything works without the RTS signal.. i have to press the flash button and the reset button to flash the module
Markus
@Links2004
you complete disable the automatic with removing the RTS
d-anders
@d-anders
bought the pretty nodemcu
Markus
@Links2004
if DTR connected or not make no difference if RTS is not connected too
onkelfunny
@onkelfunny
in this case its easier to connect the wires direct to the buttons, correct?

Markus
@Links2004
you can also try it like this:
blob
onkelfunny
@onkelfunny
i don't need the automatic for the flash. important is the terminal after uploading
Markus
@Links2004
then the auto reset will work but the selection between flash / boot will be manual
onkelfunny
@onkelfunny
thats fine. i will try this. thank you!!
Markus
@Links2004
only the buttons will work to but the you have to press two instant of on :)
onkelfunny
@onkelfunny
works great and is stable! thx!!
onkelfunny
@onkelfunny
how i can remove the complete flash? I uploaded a sketch with wifi, after that i uploaded a sketch without wifi, but i can see the old wifi sad and i can connect to them.
onkelfunny
@onkelfunny
The SSID is ESP_9BAFCE ... this is strange, i have never used this SSID
Harrison Mclean
@h4rm0n1c
Is there any documentation about the SSID naming convention? How is it generated?

@cottsak
can anyone help me get the new WiFiClientSecure work @igrr has done as per this thread? esp8266/Arduino#43
Matt Kocaj
@cottsak
I've build from source but it seems to me I may only need to get the updated library.. can anyone confirm?
torntrousers
@torntrousers
@cottsak if you've built the latest source then WiFiClientSecure should be there and just work, it does for me anyay. There is an example thats an easy way to start: File->Examples-ESP8266WiFi->HTTPSRequest
Matt Kocaj
@cottsak
@torntrousers well the advice https://github.com/esp8266/Arduino/issues/43#issuecomment-140220615 was to build the IDE from source..
will that necessarily include the esp8266 libs in that?
torntrousers
@torntrousers
i've only tried by building the IDE itself sorry
Matt Kocaj
@cottsak
but when you did you saw the HTTPSRequest and you can access the new WiFiClientSecure class?
torntrousers
@torntrousers
yep
Matt Kocaj
@cottsak
i must be doing something wrong then
i built https://github.com/arduino/Arduino/wiki/Building-Arduino earlier and even updated the doco (in the Mac section) and then used the arduino-1.6.6-macosx.zip in the build output
when i start that i can't see the HTTPSRequest in the examples folder for ESP8266WiFi
ideas?
torntrousers
@torntrousers
Have you a recent enough git checkout? in the source it should have Arduino\hardware\esp8266com\esp8266\libraries\ESP8266WiFi\src\WiFiClientSecure.cpp
