Hello all, I've been trying to make the EventManager (https://github.com/igormiktor/arduino-EventManager ) run on esp8266 arduino core. Since I have to #ifdef some parts of the code, I wonder if there is any predefined macro I could use to detect the presence of the arduino-core. Currently I'm using ESP_H, but that just doesn't seem to be right.

I've possibly overlooked this. Thanks!

does anyone know how i can connect this to my ESP? i'm a bit lost :/ http://www.ebay.com/itm/281776665478?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

@me-no-dev
you use the serial port to connect to it
Stavros Korokithakis
@skorokithakis
just tx/rx?
Me No Dev
@me-no-dev
and GND yes
might need the reset to make sure the module is init at sketch boot
Stavros Korokithakis
@skorokithakis
hmm, the reset is solder-on, there's no pin
i might just solder one there
there's 5VT/5VR/3VT/3VR/VCC/GND and then something that says DB9-2/DB9-3/GND
the DB-stuff seems to be serial
but the 3VT/3VR also seems to be serial
so confusing
Me No Dev
@me-no-dev
the chip by spec does not tollerate 3.3V logic
though I have found it working fine
Stavros Korokithakis
@skorokithakis
this shield claims to have a 3V logic level pin
Me No Dev
@me-no-dev
so they have a convertor there to be able to work on 5V
Stavros Korokithakis
@skorokithakis
so that should work, at least
right
looks like an FTDI cable will work as well

@Makuna
@mrbig @me-no-dev The official one I thought should be ARDUINO_ARCH_ESP8266 and not ESP8266.

does anyone know of anything like a microusb to power cable?
tzapu
@tzapu
or a tiny usb power source? similar to the apple watch one for instance? :P just tagging along your question @skorokithakis
Stavros Korokithakis
@skorokithakis
@tzapu what does that one look like?
but EU i d preffer :P
$1? i'm sure these will just catch fire while sitting on a desk
tzapu
@tzapu

so i know they don t catch fire :P
Stavros Korokithakis
@skorokithakis
i just bought five
so if i don't show up again, you'll know :smile:
tzapu
@tzapu

:)))
Stavros Korokithakis
@skorokithakis

tzapu
@tzapu

Stavros Korokithakis
@skorokithakis
haha yep
tzapu
@tzapu
apprently the quality of the stabilisation on those cheap ones leaves a lot to be desired, etc
john lee from expressif told us once that they have an idea and will come up with some sort of mains power solution
but haven t seen anything yet

But that is true for almost any thing from China : a year ago, I've received Wall-PSUs with barrel, one of them had a solder blob inside touching the AC, when I've plug it, 120VAC across OlimexBoard and USB hub, both gave smoke. Fortunately, my PC itself been undamaged, protected by this USB Hub.
tzapu
@tzapu
ffs
glad your pc is ok
that was the mention
