i have this running with arbitrary printers + an esp

I have FF Dreamer which is WiFi and USB (not serial) and yes I've done quite a bit of playing with it
probonopd
@probonopd
will look into slicr next
s3d, is it worth it?
Me No Dev
@me-no-dev
oh yes
evry penny
probonopd
@probonopd
can it do wifi printing directly?
Me No Dev
@me-no-dev
not sure
I have nothing but issues with my WiFi module
so I have been using usb
and this WiFi is SPI, so not that easy to hack

hi guys , somethings strange , I easily can upload sketch data files , but can't upload the sketch , has somebody experienced such phenomena ? does my module broke ?
Me No Dev
@me-no-dev
your sketch too big?

Hi Guys,,,
I have been facing some problem with the esp8266 chip
with random restarts
after a while
it says ,"resetReason":"External System","resetInfo":"Fatal exception:0 flag:6 (EXT_SYS_RST) epc1:0x00000000 epc2:0x00000000 epc3:0x00000000 excvaddr:0x00000000 depc:0x00000000"
not quite able to figure out where the issue is
i am not providing any external reset
and my reset pin is set to high
do u guys know of any other reason why this could happen ?
Akash Ashok
@thehellmaker
another reason i am seeing is "resetReason":"Hardware Watchdog","resetInfo":"Fatal exception:4 flag:1 (WDT) epc1:0x401031e8 epc2:0x00000000 epc3:0x00000000 excvaddr:0x00000000 depc:0x00000000"

@mkeyno
no , it is just empty sketch with only serial print

Is anyone aware of a way to switch the channel of the ESP8266 AP without causing clients to become disconnected?
even using the raw sdk API I still get a disconnect. I'm asking as i'm trying to design a smooth experience of connecting to the AP, setting WiFi credentials, and then connecting to the wifi network. At the moment if the AP is on a different channel to the prospective network it must change first, only the client then drops the connection and reconnects to the main network. this requires you to reconnect manually back to the ESP to continue the setup. its just a bit clunky... not particularly professional.
I use this code

                            bool result = false;
                            struct softap_config * _currentconfig = new softap_config;
                            if (_currentconfig && wifi_softap_get_config(_currentconfig)) {
                                _currentconfig->channel = channel;
                                result = wifi_softap_set_config_current(_currentconfig);
                            }

maybe @igrr can enquire internally. an SDK function to switch wifi channel would be good.

Me No Dev
@me-no-dev
? @sticilface how do you exactly imagine that to happen?
you are changing the frequency, so unless the clients know that it will be switched (and they don't) they will get dosconnected
sticilface
@sticilface
This is a very good point. just from experience when my home router changes channel it seems to be a lot smoother. I was thinking there might be something in the wifi protocol that can advertise a channel change before it happens....
Deveyes
@deveyes_twitter
The protocol does allow for this, and it is implemented in the sdk, but there seems to be a bug. It was found recently by one of the nodemcu firmware developers, and a ticket was opened for expressif, but there has been no reply afaik.
sticilface
@sticilface
Do you have a link to it? @deveyes_twitter
Deveyes
@deveyes_twitter
The bug to espressif is linked there. The issue has to do with an extra beacon after the softap does CSA.
sticilface
@sticilface
cheers, this does appear to make sense.
sticilface
@sticilface
would defo help some of my software if the ESP could change AP channel without a full deauth and disconnect!

hi @me-no-dev are you around?

@Lan-Hekary

Hello .. I added a way to use Digest Authentication in Webserver in this pull request esp8266/Arduino#3053

check it out :D

Lan-Hekary
@Lan-Hekary
I originally requested the change about two months ago esp8266/Arduino#2898
but I don't know why no one accepted it so I closed it and opened a new one for someone to notice :smiley:

Hi, just want to integrate this switch with light. But I am not sure how to connect to 230V.
I can measure out the two pins, that are the NO-contact, but the third one?...
Has anybody a hint for me? Do not want to make any experiments with 230V without having more infos
Michael Miller
@Makuna
@brutzler how does this question pertain to Esp8266/Arduino?

Hi, I was happily coding along on my esp8266 and suddenly I start getting exceptions with a stackdump.. I load up the WiFiScan example - still stackdump.. add some printouts and it seems to dump when calling WiFi.disconnect(); in setup().. how do I proceed to solve this?
I'm using Arduino 1.6.8 and the 2.3.0 stable release of the esp8266 core
Lars Englund
@larsenglund
I can run example code that does not use the wifi
(for example reading from a i2c temperature sensor)
And the wifiscan example was running just fine a while ago..
Lars Englund
@larsenglund
If I comment out WiFi.disconnect(); it works..
