I don't have any conspiracy theory. I just asked questions. The answers, however, where unexpected and somewhot shocking.
Hudson Jameson
@Souptacular
I think Coindesk made a bigger deal than they should have.
Added the coindesk article as an agenda item.
Péter Szilágyi
@karalabe
@gcolvin @5chdn I apologize for calling it a "conspiracy theory". That was unwarranted for.
Greg Colvin
@gcolvin
No problem Peter. I am hoping someone provides a better report than these mintes.
Your comments help a lot.
Alex Beregszaszi
@axic
I wonder what is the definition of “core developer”.
Hudson Jameson
@Souptacular
Good point
Alex Beregszaszi
@axic
I suppose the “raise hand” feature is not useful :)
Péter Szilágyi
@karalabe
ohh, that's what that icon was
:))
Daniel Ellison
@zigguratt
That was a great article by @lrettig. I enjoyed it.

@AlexeyAkhunov
I have to leave the meeting, sorry. My node has synced to Ropsten finally :)
Mikhail Kalinin
@mkalinin
@karalabe could you please share PR(s) and gists if you have them related to performance improvements that you have just mentioned?
Péter Szilágyi

Somebody need to select another Stockholm metro stop for the name of the progpow testnet
5chdn
@5chdn
Why stockholm? :)
Alex Beregszaszi
@axic
All of them are from Stockholm except Goerli :)
Jacek Sieka
@arnetheduck
well, Kovan is in Singapore
Péter Szilágyi
@karalabe
morden is london
Piper Merriam
@pipermerriam
I find it somewhat hilarious that I never knew any of this
Alex Beregszaszi
@axic
Stand corrected. Perhaps the “go-ethereum lead testnets” have the Stockholm influence (Rinkeby, Ropsten) :)
Péter Szilágyi
@karalabe
Rinkeby was meant to be the next Ropsten, hence why I chose stockholm
Also I looked though other cities and allt henames sucked
:))
we can do "Kőbánya-Kispest vasútállomás" if you really insist XD
Alex Beregszaszi
@axic
sounds easy
Péter Szilágyi
@karalabe
Or we could use the one from my home town: "" (tl;dr we don't have a metro)
Alex Beregszaszi
@axic
Perhaps for a mining oriented testnet: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Shenzhen_Metro_stations

@karalabe
We could do Hsinchu (alas it's not a metri station, it's a train station). It's nearest to the "Hsinchu Science Park", which houses the headquarters of TSMC, manufacturing the GPU chips for NVIDIA. Seems fitting for ProgPOW :P
Paweł Bylica
@chfast
@karalabe usually the first name wins so you have it
Péter Szilágyi
@karalabe
"Kőbánya-Kispest vasútállomás"? Awesome!
Alex Beregszaszi
@axic
to be honest it is called “köki” by the locals
Piper Merriam
@pipermerriam
Accent characters confuse us americans
Alex Beregszaszi
@axic
koki (cocky) testnet
Tomasz Kajetan Stańczak
@tkstanczak
I would wait until we have two twin testnets so we can call them Kobanya and Kispest respectively
Péter Szilágyi
@karalabe
Kőbánya means quarry, so that's also fitting: you're mining useless rocks XD
Daniel Ellison
@zigguratt
Maybe a different term for the "All Core Devs" meeting would be appropriate. If it encompasses many low-level aspects of Ethereum perhaps it should just be called "Protocol Devs". At least that doesn't sound as closed. I have no problem with the current name but others seem to think there's some sort of clique involved. Or maybe leave out reference to "devs". "Protocol Development"?
"Others" as in people not in this channel.
Lane Rettig
@lrettig
Prelim meeting notes are here, as always please submit PRs with additions/corrections/clarifications. In particular I didn’t do a good job of taking notes as we discussed the first topic, openness and the roadmap discussions in Prague: https://github.com/ethereum/pm/blob/master/All%20Core%20Devs%20Meetings/Meeting%2050.md
Lane Rettig
@lrettig
@Souptacular did we finalize a time for the call on Nov. 30?
Hudson Jameson
@Souptacular
No actually. How about at the same time as the core dev meetings? 14:00 UTC I think.
Lane Rettig
@lrettig
yea I agree that’s probably safest
bad for folks in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, and other pacific timezones
maybe in the future we should randomize the time, just for fun and to be non-discriminatory to any particular geography ;)
