Got it. Thanks @Arachnid!

@Arachnid The following is none of my domains but is similar to what I observe for my own domains: If I look up the domain "ken.eth" (https://app.ens.domains/name/ken.eth) I can see the registrant. When I click on the registrant's address, a new window opens where I can see all the registrant's domains. Here, "ken.eth" is not listed...?

I’ve brought this up several times. Either no one is listening, or the team is still too busy.
ENSUser.com
@ensuser
@Arachnid My .eth.link contents end up in 502. And my names include ensuser.eth, ceshi.eth and liubenben.eth. What should i do to recover them? Thank you.
nrhirsch
@nrhirsch
@matthunter_twitter i posted above how to find the real name from the unknown name. That might help you transfer it. Let me know if it does.
Nick Johnson
@Arachnid
@fheinrich_gitlab We currently have an issue where we can't display more than 100 domains associated with a name. We're working on fixing it now.
@ensuser Your content doesn't load via ipfs.io either - have you pinned it somewhere reliable?

Thanks, @nrhirsch. I followed your instructions and unfortunately, bingo, my name did not appear immediately. Couldn't find it going the Opensea route, either. I'm just going to go through the entire ens-bids-backup file to find which ones are not showing up in "My Names". Thanks for your help, though.

QQ: If you register an available domain for the very first, shouldn't you be the Registrant and the Controller? And if you're not the Registrant, but the Controller, and vice versa, what should you do to become both for the domain?
nrhirsch
@nrhirsch
@matthunter_twitter did you have the registrant ETH address in metamask and unlocked?
Matt Hunter
@matthunter_twitter
@nrhirsch "did", as in when I purchased them in 2017, or as in do I currently have the Registrant ETH address in the Registrant ETH area and do I have that same ETH address in Metamask? Yes and yes. However, I'm finding all kinds of wonky stuff, like I have some domains in the Registrant column of My Names, yet the transfer button of the Registrant area isn't highlighted as it's saying that I have to be the Registrant (which I am) and logged into my wallet (which I am), along with it saying 'Controller Not Owned'. All kinds of scenarios all over the place. Maybe I can schedule a Zoom call with someone that's working at ENS to share with them? I have 133 domains.
Matt Hunter
@matthunter_twitter
@Arachnid on another note, I work at a partnership marketing platform company; whereby, we have tracking domains (xyz.io) to provide brands to program for partners, so that they can deploy the tracking links (xyz.io/####/######/####). Would there be a benefit to us using .eth domains to track clicks, leads, sales, etc?
apothan
@apothan
Are there any plans to make updating where you ENS name points cheaper through ENS on a rollup side chain or will Eth2 reduce fees to make updating your pointer a lot worth it?
AndrewH
@andrewheadricke
Looks like the HTTPS wildcard on .eth.link does not support subdomains. For example https://arborist.wip2p.eth.link
Jim McDonald
@mcdee
@andrewheadricke correct, wildcard SSL certificates do not support multiple levels
Ronan Sandford
@wighawag
on that note, would it be possible for "eth.link" to enable SSL redirect for top domains ? This is especially important for web3 apps as many wallet would not work on http only.
A js or html based redirect are possible but far less elegant for the user

Hi guys ... was wondering if there was a way for me to burn/destroy/delete one (or some) of my .eth doamins?

I found this:

We currently haven't enabled the ability to delete the ownership. Having said that, you can achieve the same effect if you set the owner record to a= 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000 then click "Transfer" from the ENS manager.

But am not sure how to get it to work ... I add 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000 (have also tried adding a= 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000) when I use the transfer function but nothing happens ...
This is in the ENS app ----^
ken-gee
@ken-gee
Keep getting an error on MEW when trying to transfer to the 0x000 address.
Registrant and controller are both the same address (mine) ...
I feel like such a noob lol
LiuBenben
@hibbb
@ken-gee Is it convenient for you to specify the ENS name's registrant address here?
ken-gee
@ken-gee
Sorry @liubenbencom ... I'd rather not do that. All these names got dumped in this address without being asked if I still wanted to use this address so, am not comfortable sharing. I'd like to dump them and then rebuy them ... if that's possible and if it's not ... then just dump them.
ken-gee
@ken-gee
Thinking about it ... if there's no other way, then I'm happy to share the address with one person. Guessing that that is better than going full public ... in most cases :P
Nick Johnson
@Arachnid
@matthunter_twitter Can you describe one such issue you're having conceretely, with an example domain and screenshots, so we can look into it?
@apothan I'm aware of and providing advice to a team working on exactly that.
@andrewheadricke That's right; it's a shortcoming/issue with SSL wildcard certificates in general.
@wighawag What do you mean by "SSL redirect"? Redirecting from http to https?
@ken-gee You need to transfer it to some other burn address, such as 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dead
ken-gee
@ken-gee

Hi, @Arachnid. Thanks for responding. Yes, one concrete example is when I go to My Names in the Controller section and find one that says "Available" when searching for it. I click the details and the Registrant is pointing to my correct ETH address, but the Controller is pointing to 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000. I try to Set it to my ETH address, but nothing happens. I click the garbage can icon next to 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000 and the "TX PENDING" just spins without ever becoming a transaction or deleting it. No idea how to make the Controller of my domain point to my ETH address. That's one example.
Nick Johnson
@Arachnid
Can you post a screenshot of your JS console after clicking on 'Set'? Which name is it?
Nick Johnson
@Arachnid
@matthunter_twitter If you have a pending TX, though, that's down to network congestion and your wallet - nothing to do with the ENS app. If you're using Metamask, it has an option to speed up your TX by replacing it with one with a higher gas price.
Ronan Sandford
@wighawag
@Arachnid yes, a redirect from http to https when visiting links like ronan.eth.link
without that I need to redirect via html meta tag and js (if meta tag not taken in consideration) which gives a bad UX
Nick Johnson
@Arachnid
@wighawag We've considered it. One thing that put us off is that SSL only works on 3LDs, so we'd have to do the redirect selectively.
Ronan Sandford
@wighawag
making it work on 3LDs would be better than not working at all, no ?

Hello everyone! I was trying to transfer my esn name using myCrypto. I have been following this tutorial: https://support.mycrypto.com/how-to/ens/changing-the-ens-owner-or-transferring-an-ens-name Transfering a domain (best practice!). When I did all the steps my transaction has failed, and it says that it has been reverted (https://etherscan.io/tx/0x6c91dcba9fc547924c16b4084e7dc4c05bc8cd667d7f6b1f93a57a3d06977cb5). Can somenone please help and explain what should I do to transfer my ENS to anothes ETH address? Thnx in advance

@syscoinethereum
How can I renew my ens name if they are on my keystore file? Please can you help?
anders
@tabcat
you would probably want to use the keystore file to get the private key of the account that bought it, then import that into metamask
syscoinethereum
@syscoinethereum
Can I not use keystore file with metamask without importing keys, sounds complicated
Can metamask act like a interface for my keystore file
OR do I have to create a new wallet on metamask
