There is a second transaction required, whatever tool you are using should have prompted you to sign the next transaction. However, you are using the old registry and I don't know if you can migrate from the old registry still.
@veronandrino_twitter What UI are you using?

@syscoinethereum
I don't trust using my trezor with matamask also there are no video instructions out there. Got too much to lose on my trezor to connect it to metamask @nrhirsch
Micah Zoltu
@MicahZoltu
@syscoinethereum MetaMask cannot steal from your Trezor. Anything MM tries to do with your Trezor will result in your Trezor prompting you for confirmation.
syscoinethereum
@syscoinethereum
What if i lose password for metamask or download a fake metamask then my trezor is at risk right
Micah Zoltu
@MicahZoltu
@syscoinethereum Not as long as you don't sign things on your Trezor without reviewing them on the screen.
The point of a hardware wallet is to protect you even if the computer it is plugged into is fully compromised.
But that protection only works IF you review what is presented on the hardware device screen.
nrhirsch
@nrhirsch
@syscoinethereum what Micah said it accurate. no risk because any transaction to/from your Trezor or Ledger will require confirmation from the device. Don't confirm anything if you didn't do it then you're safe

How do we renew ens names for another wallet owner?
Nick Johnson
@Arachnid
Just enter the name on app.ens.domains and click 'renew'

Hello there
giovanniforpresident
@giovanniforpresident
I just noticed that a bunch of names I registered within the past month, now need to be renewed for the year. If i register more names while still in the month of May, will I then be prompted before the end of the month to renew them? It's a bit frustrating as I now have to essentially double pay for every name I registered on April 30th, not even a month ago. For the record I luv the service but I just don't wanna get any more surprises like this.
Nick Johnson
@Arachnid
The default registration period is a year. Unless you changed that, names you registered in the last month don't need renewing until a year after that. Can you give an example?
giovanniforpresident
@giovanniforpresident
@Arachnid LOL. Never mind. I just freaked when I saw "Names in May are expiring soon" and when I checked all my names they all expire on May 29th...2021. Whoops. A small oversight. The expiration dates on the names are in a very light shade of grey so basically I confused the dates. All is well now. I will be registering more names. Thank you very much.

Hello again. I have another question. In Step 2 where you have to "Wait for a minute", does that mean I shouldn't speed up the transaction if it's taking a long time by increasing the gas or does it not matter?
I'm asking because I recently completed two confirmations which I speeded up after registering a name and it never went to Step 2 or Step 3 and I didn't get any update about whether I got the name or not so I'm now on my second attempt where I am currently waiting for the first confirmation which looks like it
looks like its going to take 7 more hours.
giovanniforpresident
@giovanniforpresident
I also selected "Notify me" and I haven't been notified yet.
Peter Haas
@pepihasenfuss
@giovanniforpresident NO, you have to wait 1 minute, it has nothing to do with gas, it is a safety feature for processing your commitment, kinda reservation of your name for you. Sometimes it takes a bit more than a minute. Then, you can rent your desired domain.
giovanniforpresident
@giovanniforpresident
Ok I get it now. Thank you. I was able to register more names. For the record it went so much better when I sped up both transactions. It seems like the best way to go if there's a lot of traffic on the network. When I didn't speed up the transactions one of them was even dropped. I misunderstood the 1 minute wait. I thought i was waiting for step 1 to repeat itself. I don't know why I thought. I think I need more sleep lol. Thanks again. I luv what you guys are doing on the ETH network.

Hi, I am trying to setup a subdomain registrar for my .eth domain as mentioned here https://github.com/ensdomains/subdomain-registrar

As I was reading here https://github.com/ensdomains/subdomain-registrar#adding-a-domain
The first step is "Transferring ownership of the Deed to the deployed contract."
What is Deed referred to here?

Also can someone link me a get started guide to ENS subdomain registrar?
Peter Haas
@pepihasenfuss
The old registry, since 2017, used a deed contract for a small deposit, 0.01 eth then. It was used to commit yourself and park this deposit for a while. Then one could get his domain in an auction. The new ENS 2.0 does not use this mechanism any longer. Today, the new ENS 2.0 allows to rent a domain. If you own a domain that was made with the old ENS 1.0, then you can get back the small deposit that is stored in a deed contract. If you are new to ENS and want to get your domain, then you don't have to deal with the old deed. If you want to start using the ENS registrar and you are a developer, you might consider to start and experiment with the one deployed on ropsten: Look here to explore ENS 2.0 on ropsten: https://ropsten.etherscan.io/address/0x283af0b28c62c092c9727f1ee09c02ca627eb7f5 To start, make a new ethereum address for you and save the key, you need a bit of free ether on ropsten, therefore you use a faucet for ropsten. Then you experiment with contracts using the link to ropsten ENS2. I admit, if someone is really new to all of this, it is a bit of a steep learning curve, I mean, it can be stressful in the beginning. Hope this helps a bit. @SanchayPahalwani

Hi, my Chrome seems stuck at step one
I've done it three times and transactions have been confirmed but page stays an "Tx Pending"
Dev console is throwing strange error:
DevTools failed to load SourceMap: Could not load content for chrome-extension://hdokiejnpimakedhajhdlcegeplioahd/sourcemaps/onloadwff.js.map: HTTP error: status code 404, net::ERR_UNKNOWN_URL_SCHEME
The three transactions corresponds to three different times I've had to reload the page and try to register the name in the ENS
Peter Haas
@pepihasenfuss
The error seems to be a warning by adblocker, a chrome plug-in. I get the same warning and adblocker is disabled for the page I 'm working with, my own app. Try to turn adblocker off or remove it for a test. But I'm not sure that it interferes with your transactions. I can see 3x commits that are OK. Perhaps, you or your app didn`t wait > 60 seconds? Which tool are you using? @CarlosIvanConde_twitter

I shouldn't have an adblocker, but I have a "McAfee DLP Endpoint Chrome Extension". Does it harm?
I've been waiting more than 15 minutes with the browser opened and the page with the spinner saying "Tx Pending"
For the wallet I'm using standard MetaMask chrome extension. Chrome is updated, also.
Are those transactions lost forever? :'(
Peter Haas
@pepihasenfuss
Sorry, I don't know your McAfee extension. The three transaction did all the same: A commitment for you. I guess, you will have to start again, perhaps without the extension.
The good thing is: Your desired domain name will be reserved for you for 24h. You have time to figure out what went wrong. Good luck!

BTW, if a transaction hangs or you have to wait too long and you are working on mainnet, you can adjust the gasLimit according to this live statistics: https://etherscan.io/gasTracker. The gasTracker often helps to find the right amount of gas needed for transactions to be mined. If mainnet is crowded, transaction with little gas will be ignored for hours. @CarlosIvanConde_twitter

I’ve get an ens name and saved them to my eth account, after this ens asked me to save them, I do.
now is my ens name shown on top of my metamask instead my 0x... adress
my question is how to delete the ens name and get my 0x adress in the line back
cant find something about this?
Peter Haas
@pepihasenfuss
I'm not sure, but I think that Metamask uses ens and it prefers to show the human-readable name "somedomain" instead of an 0x000..... ethereum address. That is the purpose of the ens, to have human readable names. Play around with metamask, somehow it still knows your pure eth address. But I'm not an expert on metamask, sorry.

Hey everyone! I was wondering if there was a way to find a list of all registered .eth domains at some point in time, or better yet, a way to find a list of all registered .eth domains with a content hash at some point in time.
