Only for teletry, not everything
But still :)

Cloudflare runs on go
Go was designed for distributed and multi core systems. It's hard to compete with it if the competitor was born in a previous era (java)
And it was designed for Google scale from day one
That's also not something most languages do
Googles CDN runs Go
Rust is probably also a nuce choice for vlockchain as it's fast, but a lot more complex
If you need to evolve faster, simpler is better
(Sorru for the typos, om my phone)

@karalabe
Gotta run:)

@ellis2323
@karalabe hello, i have made some benchmarks with RAM disk... For the --fast and full synch , i have similar times .... so it's seem the disk is not the bottleneck :)
Felix Lange
@fjl

@karalabe

They did, parity :) It's a paid client

That's not true btw.
Parity is licensed GPLv3 but you can buy a commercial license. That's a very common setup.
Bob Summerwill
@bobsummerwill

More info here on Parity for everybody who is interested - https://ethcore.io/parity.html.

So Parity itself is an open source client, but ETHCORE are a for-profit corporation, who recently raised $750,000 USD in VC funding. See https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/ethcore-raises-financing-round-as-first-venture-capital-funded-ethereum-startup-1461343599.

Quote in that article, though not from ETHCORE themselves:

“Ethcore is much more focused on building licensed, proprietary tools for large financial institutions, exchanges, and so forth, as opposed to the more open-sourced, Red Hat approach Blockstream is taking ... One of Ethcore’s main value propositions is that they know Ethereum better than anyone, and thus the tools they build and deploy should buttress and catalyze Ethereum as a whole.”

^ This quote was from one of the two VC companies which made the investment. So they should know what they are talking about, especially if they are speaking on the record.

I can tell that packet prioritization is leading to lots of stalled out packets for system syncing witch is what I think is taking some people so long to dl I am on fiber optic and its taking me days to dl do to stalling out only one node is crying about lack of pears witch is funny it on a net work with other nodes I am makeing
Felix Lange
@fjl
@ivanhopke_twitter please try the code in ethereum/go-ethereum#2657
ellis2323
@ellis2323
@karalabe I'm benchmarking the ethereum/go-ethereum#2649 It seems great. In 1h08min, i have sync the 1M blocks...
ivan hopke
@ivanhopke_twitter
Felix Lange... ty but i don't know how to code or get the fix in to where they need to be it would seem simper if they would just not post broken apps with sloppy code that needs some one to go and fix it and just make it work the first time around we are talking about them having from 2014 to now to do this
ivan hopke
@ivanhopke_twitter
continually stalling out on dl sync with fiber optic internet plezz fix geth and repost fully fixed app
Jason Coombs

@zigguratt Thanks for the reply, didn't know you had the Eth on a private blockchain. My Test algorithm survived two full syncs and I think it is ready to go, if anybody has some Test ether they can spare, I would like to re-open my wallets and old accounts. Let me reopen test so I can grab my new account. Would appreciate a small amount of test ether to "resurrect".
planning on getting my Kubuntu laptop up this weekend and a friend just sold me his iMac G4 that needs a kb and mouse. dunno how much speed I'll get from the others, definitely going to have to learn Mac, Ubuntu I'm familiar with, had Unix experience from a DEC PDP 11/750 over 30 years ago. I know, dang old fart here who needs to revive his coding skills.

If anybody could spare some Ether, send it to this address: 0x358dF949DF1451a67cAcF93E5209F433e7E39C2B It is going to be the new wallet owner for the Test coin I want to get back up and going.
Test Ether, I meant
