@karalabe
That's also not something most languages do
Googles CDN runs Go
Rust is probably also a nuce choice for vlockchain as it's fast, but a lot more complex
If you need to evolve faster, simpler is better
(Sorru for the typos, om my phone)
Gotta run:)

@karalabe hello, i have made some benchmarks with RAM disk... For the --fast and full synch , i have similar times .... so it's seem the disk is not the bottleneck :)
Felix Lange
@fjl

@karalabe

They did, parity :) It's a paid client

That's not true btw.
Parity is licensed GPLv3 but you can buy a commercial license. That's a very common setup.
Bob Summerwill
@bobsummerwill

More info here on Parity for everybody who is interested - https://ethcore.io/parity.html.

So Parity itself is an open source client, but ETHCORE are a for-profit corporation, who recently raised $750,000 USD in VC funding. See https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/ethcore-raises-financing-round-as-first-venture-capital-funded-ethereum-startup-1461343599.

Quote in that article, though not from ETHCORE themselves:

“Ethcore is much more focused on building licensed, proprietary tools for large financial institutions, exchanges, and so forth, as opposed to the more open-sourced, Red Hat approach Blockstream is taking ... One of Ethcore’s main value propositions is that they know Ethereum better than anyone, and thus the tools they build and deploy should buttress and catalyze Ethereum as a whole.”

^ This quote was from one of the two VC companies which made the investment. So they should know what they are talking about, especially if they are speaking on the record.

I can tell that packet prioritization is leading to lots of stalled out packets for system syncing witch is what I think is taking some people so long to dl I am on fiber optic and its taking me days to dl do to stalling out only one node is crying about lack of pears witch is funny it on a net work with other nodes I am makeing

@karalabe I'm benchmarking the ethereum/go-ethereum#2649 It seems great. In 1h08min, i have sync the 1M blocks...
ivan hopke
@ivanhopke_twitter
Felix Lange... ty but i don't know how to code or get the fix in to where they need to be it would seem simper if they would just not post broken apps with sloppy code that needs some one to go and fix it and just make it work the first time around we are talking about them having from 2014 to now to do this
ivan hopke
@ivanhopke_twitter
continually stalling out on dl sync with fiber optic internet plezz fix geth and repost fully fixed app

@zigguratt Thanks for the reply, didn't know you had the Eth on a private blockchain. My Test algorithm survived two full syncs and I think it is ready to go, if anybody has some Test ether they can spare, I would like to re-open my wallets and old accounts. Let me reopen test so I can grab my new account. Would appreciate a small amount of test ether to "resurrect".
planning on getting my Kubuntu laptop up this weekend and a friend just sold me his iMac G4 that needs a kb and mouse. dunno how much speed I'll get from the others, definitely going to have to learn Mac, Ubuntu I'm familiar with, had Unix experience from a DEC PDP 11/750 over 30 years ago. I know, dang old fart here who needs to revive his coding skills.
agnewpickens
@agnewpickens
If anybody could spare some Ether, send it to this address: 0x358dF949DF1451a67cAcF93E5209F433e7E39C2B It is going to be the new wallet owner for the Test coin I want to get back up and going.
Test Ether, I meant
agnewpickens
@agnewpickens
Don't know why, but whoever is sending me Test ether, the transactions aren't going thru. I am synced, but am 15 minutes behind on block download. By the way, muchos gracias.
My Test Net algo is generating a shit ton of blocks each day, should be plenty of opportunity for Test Net miners once I get my wallets back up.

@ivanhopke_twitter We understand your frustration, buy we're doing the best we can. The issues you are seeing were not present a few months ago. As the network gets larger, more and more low resource, bad connectivity peers join and transaction throughout picks up, we're starting to see bottlenecks that were inexistent half a year ago. We do try to fix them asap, but given the highly sensitive nature.of the project and that we have 98% network penetration, we nees to be very careful to not screw up anything. Btw, the fixes are slated for Monday.

@agnewpickens
Maybe I need to execute this from another computer, gonna get my Kubuntu 14.04 laptop up. My Test account doesn't want to accept transactions from whoever tried to send me some Test ether.
Sorry, Lubuntu
agnewpickens
@agnewpickens
If anybody could tell me what optimal settings would be for the Lubuntu Compaq laptop I am setting up to run Geth and Mist, would greatly appreciate your help. Have set up an Ethernet connection that I haven't connected to yet. Want to make sure I have the settings right and that I connect properly for Ethereum use. Already printed out the guide someone gave me for installing and running Geth on my Lubuntu, so shouldn't need much help there. You can PM me if you can help. Thanks much.
agnewpickens
@agnewpickens
That's weird, my Mist crashed while on Test and when I reopened mist, my Geth overhead in processes dropped from 1.2 to 1.5 Gigs of RAM to about 200 Megs. I had closed a bunch of open processes that I wasn't currently using shortly before Mist closed on me.
Looks like I got my internet up, hope I used the right settings.
Rocky Fikki
@rfikki
@agnewpickens sent you some.

@agnewpickens
let me see if it went thru, I just got my Lubuntu up on internet and have extracted Geth and Wallet onto a CD, just need take the disk from my HP Win 7 and pop it into my Lubuntu, could use some help, have never compiled anything in Lubuntu and I have a 32 bit version so will have to compile my Geth, my Wallet is 32 bit linux.
Thanks @rfikki
agnewpickens
@agnewpickens
If it doesn't come thru, like previous sends, will try it from the Lubuntu laptop and Import a wallet to see if that works. Won't do my primary test coin but a smaller wallet.
yay, it finally went thru, thanks so much!!! can recover my wallets tomorrow, exhausted from fiddling with my Lubuntu laptop.
agnewpickens
@agnewpickens
sent finney to an easy password wallet to add new owner and that transaction went thru really fast...

@agnewpickens
also, the admin page for one of my testnet tokens has activated on Main if anybody wants the address to play around with it.
