The problem is that forking the repo in this instance isn't very helpful, because people aren't going to read the docs on Github, they will read it on readthedocs. So if you forked the repo you'd have to create a new readthedocs site as well.

So we really need to have someone else with write access to this repo, or maybe some other solution. @bobsummerwill, @Souptacular, @hughlang, @gmkung, @zelig, @pipermerriam, @yann300, @jjmstark, @chriseth, @5chdn, @ethers

I forgot to mention that the Homestead Guide repo is outdated and unmaintained, with many PRs, so we need a resolution for that.

Which is why I'm asking to change the license to an unlicense so that anyone can fork it and maintain it.

Shit, it's not licensed yet?

Let's not make a big deal of this one. I'll poke @Souptacular to be sure he's good with it and we'll get it merged
He's the one who spearheaded the original documentation effort

Great, yeah Github makes it very easy to add a license, you just create a new file, type license, then click the "add a license template", then select a license. I suggest the unlicense template as the most copyleft one.
But the problem is that it isn't sufficient to add a license. You also need to have someone who is willing to maintain the repo that can maintain it, by having write access to it. There is no point in forking it, because the files on readthedocs are taken from the repo, not a forked repo.

what about a byzantium guide?

I wasn't thinking so much about Byzantium, but it would be good to point to other info sources.

There are a lot of open PRs in the repo.

PS there are now only 13 open PRs in the repo, so it has been maintained thanks to @pirapira!

OK, yes it would be good if you could please keep an eye on it, since you seem to be quite active in maintaining Ethereum repos on Github.
