Bruno Škvorc
@Swader
Plenty. A simple google search will reveal MyCrypto, MyEtherWallet, MetaMask, and more. Please don't cross post across channels. For support, you're going to find more help in Discord: https://discord.gg/bEekPm

Danish Rabbani
@danirabbani90

Vincenzo Palazzo
@vincenzopalazzo
The link is here https://github.com/ethereum/mist/releases and the name of the project is Ethereum-Wallet
Danish Rabbani
@danirabbani90
there is no source code or instructions written on how should run that ?
Vincenzo Palazzo
@vincenzopalazzo
I don't know sorry, but if is in the same project it's run in the same instructions of the mist wallet, you try it with the same instructions the mist wallet
Danish Rabbani
@danirabbani90
yes i tried it continues to sync for ages :/
and its not even showing proper blocks :/
Vincenzo Palazzo
@vincenzopalazzo
oh damn, with this references you try setting this project
Danish Rabbani
@danirabbani90
@vincenzopalazzo i have started the app now its started but its not connected to my private chain :
i dont know how it was developed
Vincenzo Palazzo
@vincenzopalazzo
@danirabbani90 I don't know your case because I never haven't a private chain, sorry

Please, please try to follow other people's instruction and README documents, you're trying to cut a path through a jungle when a paved road is right behind a tree next to you: https://bitfalls.com/2018/03/26/connecting-myetherwallet-mist-metamask-private-blockchain/
Danish Rabbani
@danirabbani90
these instructions are not clear
Bruno Škvorc
@Swader
It's literally step by step, what's not clear?
Danish Rabbani
@danirabbani90
actually i am trying to connect to my remote node
but its not it creates a local node :
Bruno Škvorc
@Swader
So you're trying to connect a locally running Mist to a remote hosted node?
Danish Rabbani
@danirabbani90
yes
i am trying to do that
and it gives errors
of notifications not supported
and when i connect through web socket it keeps on sycning
on and on
Bruno Škvorc
@Swader

Ok so there are three core problems I see here that need to be addressed first because it seems like you're trying to solve some problem in a completely wrong way:

  1. Why are you using Mist, what do you need it for?
  2. Why are you not running the node of a private chain locally as well?
  3. How did you run the remote node, and did you open its RPC port and allow remote connections to it, and does it have firewall permissions to open those ports?

I believe we can find a solution to your problem that's better in all aspects.

Danish Rabbani
@danirabbani90
is it better to run the node locally ?
first and then try
because my intentions are to make it as a cold wallet
just like desktop wallet
you know
yes i have opened the port
from the geth
but its not accepting it
] [ERROR] ipcProviderBackend - Send request failed { code: -32000, message: 'notifications not supported' }
getting this error on connecting through rpc
:/
Bruno Škvorc
@Swader
You don't need a node or Mist to have a cold wallet

is it better to run the node locally ?

Depends on what exactly you're trying to accomplish

Danish Rabbani
@danirabbani90
its like i need a desktop wallet for my ethereum
node
private chain
