these instructions are not clear
Bruno Škvorc
@Swader
It's literally step by step, what's not clear?
Danish Rabbani
@danirabbani90
actually i am trying to connect to my remote node
but its not it creates a local node :
Bruno Škvorc
@Swader
So you're trying to connect a locally running Mist to a remote hosted node?
Danish Rabbani
@danirabbani90
yes
i am trying to do that
and it gives errors
of notifications not supported
and when i connect through web socket it keeps on sycning
on and on
Bruno Škvorc
@Swader

Ok so there are three core problems I see here that need to be addressed first because it seems like you're trying to solve some problem in a completely wrong way:

  1. Why are you using Mist, what do you need it for?
  2. Why are you not running the node of a private chain locally as well?
  3. How did you run the remote node, and did you open its RPC port and allow remote connections to it, and does it have firewall permissions to open those ports?

I believe we can find a solution to your problem that's better in all aspects.

Danish Rabbani
@danirabbani90
is it better to run the node locally ?
first and then try
because my intentions are to make it as a cold wallet
just like desktop wallet
you know
yes i have opened the port
from the geth
but its not accepting it
] [ERROR] ipcProviderBackend - Send request failed { code: -32000, message: 'notifications not supported' }
getting this error on connecting through rpc
:/
Bruno Škvorc
@Swader
You don't need a node or Mist to have a cold wallet

is it better to run the node locally ?

Depends on what exactly you're trying to accomplish

Danish Rabbani
@danirabbani90
its like i need a desktop wallet for my ethereum
node
private chain
and build it as if like a software
what is the better thing to do to have a qt wallet ?
dekstop wallet etc
?
Bruno Škvorc
@Swader
QT? Does it have to be QT? Compiled? Closed source? What will you use it for? Why not just use MyCrypto since their app is already "Desktop".
Danish Rabbani
@danirabbani90
My Crypto do they have open source code and is it compatible with the private chain
Bruno Škvorc
@Swader
Yes, they all support custom RPC endpoints so you can connect to any chain. They are open source, yes: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=mycrypto+desktop+open+source
Danish Rabbani
@danirabbani90
yes i am on their github i need to modify it to make it run only with my private chain
but they dont seem to have desktop app code on their github
Bruno Škvorc
@Swader
There's an option called "custom network". That's all you need to connect to your blockchain.
Danish Rabbani
@danirabbani90
hi there i have done the my crypto wallet
but its not gettting the balance from my private chain
it says balance is not available offline
:/
Danish Rabbani
@danirabbani90
any suggestions ?
James Bowery
@jabowery
How do I "make sure" I am "in sync"? I see a lot of documentation saying "make sure..." without any "by doing". Mostly this relates to "sync"ing. Help is no help in this regard as it merely says "make sure", again, with no "by doing". The Ethereum Wallet app itself has a "NOTE" that says: "If your balance doesn't seem updated, make sure that you are in sync with the network."
Bruno Škvorc
@Swader
Use eth_syncing when in the console: https://github.com/ethereum/wiki/wiki/JSON-RPC#eth_syncing
James Bowery
@jabowery
Is the console available from the Windows Ethereum Wallet UI?
Roxy Q.
@CurrencyInvestors
hello someone can do a tutorial better explained to novices, I'm not a programmer, all they do is refer to other links ... write me in private if someone wants to provide a good video from the minute 1 of the installation of ETHEREUM, to contribute in elgo the new ones, thanks.
Bruno Škvorc
@Swader
@jabowery If you mean Mist, that's discontinued. But the icon in the bottom left will tell you if you're synced.

Hi Everyone,

I have synced the main node on my server and now I need to make functions for send balance, generate address, get transactions for my deployed contract using c#.
I am confused that how I my C# code can interact with my contract using NEthereum library to send balance from main account and a newly generated address.

I have tried my best already so after all my efforts I am asking here from you my friends. So, Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks
