Hey @dicbo!
You can build it from source. https://github.com/ethereum/webthree-umbrella/wiki/Building-on-OS-X. Best wishes!

We're just missing prebuilt El Capitan binaries. If you have any issues with running through that process, please come and badger us at http://gitter.im/ethereum/mix. Thanks!

@bobsummerwill Thanks for the step by step! I think I saw you today on slack decentraldoa in Vancouver. Im Alex Fortin on the chat. Anyhow the instruction say it takes 20GB temporary. Does it means i will get the 20GB back once the install is over or i will loose 20GB to run it?
Im starting out with coding but I will give it a try, it shouldn't be too complicated I imagine.

Great, @dicbo! Good to see you here :-)

Yes, the 20Gb is just temporary directory stuff during the course of the build process. You will get it back. We just have that note because if you run out during the build process then it will abort and you have to start again.

Warning - the Qt5 build needed for these GUI applications is incredibly tediously long, so you'll want to get that going now and then LEAVE IT RUNNING overnight! It has taken as long as 9 hours to run on my machine. There is some work to do before we can avoid needing to build Qt5. That will go away at some point. But not today.

None of it is too complicated. Just command-lines to run, mainly.

We will have El Capitan binaries in the future. Just getting an additional build machine. Needs setting up, hooking into automated builds, blah blah blah, and it is one of hundreds of open tasks. We'll get to it in the next few weeks. Just not got there quite yet.

Good luck! If you run into any problems, please just use the mix gitter channel and we'll get you moving again. Hope to meet you at Decentral some time soon. Maybe on Pi Day? :-)

on block 494k was the homestead transition, it takes longer because not enough nodes have updated

thanx Alex!
few more question:
  1. without wallet being updated can I start pool mining?
  2. at home I have very slow internet and it's 3 days still on 300K on update by geth --rpc, so can I import blockchain from wallet on a Mac to geth.exe on PC?

Sorry I don’t know anything about mining. On the second point, you can try copying over the blockchain files and test it
