@snjyrml could you be a little more specific? if you mean the example from ethereum.org then you can just copy it into remix and run it from there
@asleischow I'm sorry to say that, but i think you need to make a brand new contract. that's why it's important to test your contract before deploying to the chain
@oviangk maybe try ethereum.org, it's the first big blue button on the scroll down ;)

Hi
maybe tell us why you're here?

@ENiG87
Trying to start a sandbox project, with my own currency where I can consume API through nodejs web3 or JSONrpc using webservice calls but instead of Ether, use bertcoin
want to a frontend with simulated buyers/sellers where can choose smart contracts from a stubbed list

@ENiG87
Jul 13 2017 13:29
ok, that's a pretty ambicious project
do you have any experience in blockchain development?
bertlee
@bertlee
Jul 13 2017 13:29
very minimal, coming from IBM Hyperledger

well, what you are proposing sounds to me like a copy of ethereum, with the only difference in using your tokens instead of ether
bertlee
@bertlee
Jul 13 2017 13:32
kindaaa, yes on tokens instead of ether
still be able to use the ether wallet, but also allow users to enter contracts via web gui
ENiG87
@ENiG87
Jul 13 2017 13:34
that's possible either way
you just have to connect your smartcontract to an interface-framework, like meteor or metamask
then everybody can use your contract without the need for a client

@bertlee
Jul 13 2017 13:35
oooooo
ENiG87
@ENiG87
Jul 13 2017 13:35
the framework could handle the accounts (creation, signing) and your user "just" log in
bertlee
@bertlee
Jul 13 2017 13:35
was planning on using ember,node,mongo but if just use meteor or metamask, maybe easier to get up and running + compatible?
ENiG87
@ENiG87
Jul 13 2017 13:36
to be honest: i never worked with metamask or meteor, but i know that you can do stuff like this with it

ahh ic ic
oh wow, do you have a link to a tutorial page?
ENiG87

there are a many great tutorials out there that you can reference. sadly i don't have a link for you right now

ic ic, is the token creation tutorial provided on the eth page one you would recommend?

not sure anymore. the rate for ether was climbing so fast, a lot of shady people are jumping on the train right now
no problem, glad to be of help
your problem, that you want customers to pay with your tokens is not new. if you google, you should find a lot of people with the same idea
bertlee
@bertlee
Jul 13 2017 13:42
ahh ic ic, am more into the dev aspect of blockchain + currency over the $$$
ENiG87
@ENiG87
Jul 13 2017 13:42
and it's a nice one: sell your own tokens and your customer doesn't have to understand what a bitcoin or ether is, very helpful
but: in most countries you have to cooperate with a bank to be able to sell your tokens for real money
you could decide to sell your tokens for another cryptocurrency, but that will only complicate matter in my view
bertlee
@bertlee
Jul 13 2017 13:44
didn't want to write the logic for merkle trees, crypto, etc myself, just want to get some sample chains going with my fake monopoly currency and translate the blockchain transactions into visualizations, its make for cool laserbeams/graphs/nodes
ahh ic ic
i will probabaly never sell for real money
ENiG87
@ENiG87
Jul 13 2017 13:44
but you could sell tokens to your user, tokens they use to pay for services of your contract. and then you could use the profit of that sale to pay the actual transaction and computations costs yourself
bertlee
@bertlee
Jul 13 2017 13:45
ahhh, interesting
ENiG87
@ENiG87
Jul 13 2017 13:45
but it will still be hard to implement, as you have to essentialy man-in-the-middle between every transaction your user does and take his coins and make the transaction work with real ether
there are some ways to facilitate this. if you google you should find other people who are on the same path as you are on
yeah, writing logic for merkle trees, crypto etc yourself would be a mammoth project.
yeah, satoshi presumably wrote it all on himself. but then there are other people saying he is acutally a group of people and not a single individual
bertlee
@bertlee
Jul 13 2017 13:47
ahhhhhh i see, yeah, im on the super early stages of dev, have my skeleton ready, just need to plug in ether stuff, but the more i talk to you and the more i read, it seems like it will be quite time consuming in regards to research, learning, dev
ENiG87
@ENiG87
Jul 13 2017 13:47
to do all this alone would be unfeasable, just ask the ethereum dev team ;)
