Hi guys, quick question:
function foo() payable {
someAddress.call.gas(250000).value(msg.value)();
}
In that case, who is paying for the 250000 gas? Is it the msg.sender or the contract?

Hi guys! I've been having an issue with the Shareholders Association on the latest Ethereum Wallet version (0.9). Here's the error:

Variable is declared as a storage pointer. Use an explicit "storage" keyword to silence this warning.

Was putting storage after the datatype and made it to:

string storage description;

But it still isn't working. Any thoughts on this??

Hi guys,
I was creating my first token on the ethereum network.
I saw that a lot of people used SafeMath in their contracts.
Using the updated example on the Ethereum's token creation page is still necessary to use it? Are there things to take care with that code?
jjpsuarez1113
@jjpsuarez1113
@kingassune glad that I wasn't the only one experiencing this. It seems like the compiler of the Ethereum Wallet isn't updated. It's still running on 4.13. Can we somehow update the compiler version of the Ethereum Wallet?

@MidnightLightning Hello! How do I use Remix to compile Solidity code and use it in Ethereum Wallet? It seems that the compiler needs to be updated in order to compile the Shareholders Association code in the tutorials. And, I read a few threads back that I can use Remix to compile the contract instead. How will I do it? Thank you.
weijin
@weijinxy
@jjpsuarez1113 you should create private ethereum net, and choose web 3 Provider environment
jjpsuarez1113
@jjpsuarez1113
I'm on Rinkeby and Remix isn't detecting my account even if I connect it to the localhost. I'm using Ethereum Wallet 0.9.0.

@MidnightLightning
In the right sidebar of the Remix interface, switch to "Settings" and set the compiler to whatever you want. Click the "Compile" button to make sure your contract is re-compiled with the new version. Switch to the "Contract" tab, and under the blue header for your contract, click the "Contract details (bytecode, interface, etc.)" link. That will expand out a bunch of raw data about the contract, including a "Web3 deploy" script, and the full Bytecode, which you could copy and paste into the Ethereum Wallet software as "transaction data" to send.

what is a pragma solidity and can i change it?

@Saoming The first line of a Solidity script often includes a "pragma" line that indicates which version of Solidity is needed to compile that code. If you have "undeclared identifier" errors, that likely means the compiler you're using is too old and doesn't know those new commands.

@MidnightLightning

so in order to make [DApps] do i need to make it from meteor js ?

Meteor is not needed to make a DApp, thought it does make it a lot easier. You can just use the web3js infrastructure to add basic communication to the Ethereum network to your web application.

someAddress.call.gas(250000).value(msg.value)();In that case, who is paying for the 250000 gas? Is it the msg.sender or the contract?

@squlio-jmul The msg.sender is. That command limits the sub-transaction to 250,000 gas, which the sub-transaction might not use all up, so it might not need to all be paid for.

can someone link to the best way to purchase ethereum in USD... or the process of downloading a wallet etc...

@ReneRomoJr For someone just getting started, Coinbase is an easy way to get some ether for USD.

@MidnightLightning One last question, how about the parameters that I have to set before deploying a contact? Isn't it that when we deploy using Solidity in the Ethereum Wallet software, we get the chance to input certain fields such as for instance in the Shareholders Association code, the beneficiary address, the number of quorums and the minutes for the debate. When trying to deploy using Bytecode in the Ethereum Wallet, I don't get the chance to view the parameters I have to set before deploying in the contract as compare to using the Solidity code. Where or how can I set the parameters when using Bytecode? Thanks.
