There definitely seems to be a bug with Ethereum Wallet/Mist 0-9-0. I use the ethreum.org/token sample with no modifications. Created 100M tokens and paid the gas. A week later, it still shows "creating contract" even though it's sync'd a few times and my wallet has been debited the transaction fee. I've seen reports on the web about Ethereum Wallet getting "stuck" but never saw any resolutions to this problem.
phalexo
@phalexo
@aphilsmith Apparently this bug is exclusively afflicting you, because the blockchain is awash in crappy contracts from people who just dump whatever half-cooked example they can find in there without first spending some time to understand things.

hello, i have deployed my new coins on ethereum main network. i'm trying to search my token on etherscan but unable to find there. How or when will we able to see there ? I deployed today. Thank You for the help
aphilsmith
@aphilsmith
@phalexo No, this is not unique to me, and there are many reports similar to this. Copying the example: https://ethereum.org/token#the-code and pasting into Solidity, filling out the form, deploying it, paying the gas and submitting it. Only trouble is, it stays in a "creating contract" and there are no confirmations. Ever.

@lapitsrepo
Hello team, please anyone help answering that how long process take my coins/token to be public once after i verified source code and published. Right now i'm unable to search my token.

My three-part "Beginners' Guide to Ethereum" series is now complete; took me a few months to finish up the third guide in the series, but it now is a complete set that guides users from the very beginning steps of creating wallets and purchasing their first ether, to interacting with smart contracts. Take a look over at https://steemit.com/ethereum/@midnight426/ethereum-beginners-guide-1-ether, and let me know if you find any errors or omissions, so I can fix them up!

Hi guys, I am trying to deploy this contract (the Blockchain congress) https://ethereum.org/dao#the-shareholder-association
but it throws an error everytime on line 58. Variable is declared as a storage pointer. Use an explicit "storage" keyword to silence this. string description;
can anyone help

hello guys. nice to bee here and looking for help on how to create a token for our mobile chat app
Brooks Boyd
@MidnightLightning
@cafeespresso4 Make sure you're using the most up-to-date version of the Solidity compiler. Taking the current "Blockchain Congress" code from that page using the v0.4.16 Solidity compiler doesn't give that warning.
@stifler-sanu Read the tutorial at https://ethereum.org/token
And @somidax too: the tutorial at https://ethereum.org/token shows how to create a token.

Hello there! I'm building an ethereum wallet. What node client would you guys recommend for this? I've used bcoin and lcoin in the past and they have a nice http api, is there an ethereum node client like that out there?

would this be valid ? bool = ( block.number > x && weiRaised > y);
eddie2024
@eddie2024
in an if else statement that checks block.number, would it be better, from a memory consumption perspective, to assign block.number to a variable or call block.number in each comparison?

Hi everyone,

Are any of you interested in teaching an intermediate-advanced-level Ethereum course?

I'm starting an online blockchain course to provide rising Ethereum developers with personal code reviews, unique projects and a vibrant support community.

Your gig : Earn $25k for teaching the core intro series to Solidity/Web3/Truffle (~12 hours of video/screencast over 4 weeks) or $6k for teaching an advanced topic (~3 hours of video/screencast over 1 week), plus potentially much more $ from revenue sharing. Get in on the early stages of building a vibrant, global developer education community.

You: You’re a great communicator and developer. Ideally, you are recognized / highly accomplished within the blockchain community.

Does this sound like someone you know? Earn $1k for referring a teacher that we choose.

Introduce yourself, or send a way to contact your referral, to stephen@web3.academy

Any comments? I'd love your feedback on how to best serve the Ethereum development community.

jdmcwhinnie
@jdmcwhinnie
Why is the new mist ethereum wallet being so troublesome
phalexo
@phalexo
@jdmcwhinnie Because cryptocurrency tools are at the moment designed for technically sophisticated people, not the ignorant masses.
jdmcwhinnie
@jdmcwhinnie
Wow that's nice of you ass hole
Ntp updated geth --fast --cache=1024 and still fails at the very end. If phalexo can get mine going I will call him a sophisticated person and until then you are also part of the ignorant mass!
I've probably been doing this longer than you phalexo

@Cristi12 these are the install instructions for go-ethereum
So does anyone ever answer questions in this gitter? I've seen a lot of questions and not a single one answered

i installet gith , update it , i downloaded 0.9.0 etehereum wallet and start sync after sync got 41 % ethereum wallet closed all by it selfe (he closed at 1.000.200) i open it again and start sync form 1.000.200 to 1.376.788 and got stuck. .....i reopen it and now its growing up ... its ok ?
Harsha Goli
@arshbot
The only response in the last few days was one guy saying crypto was "not for the ignorant masses". Should I adopt that attitude? Will it get me farther?
Keno Leon
@KenoLeon
@arshbot Yes !

Alright assface, I don't want to use any shitty JSON-RPC api to make a convoluted interface between my application and the node. Any of you nerds know of a better node client with a somewhat usable api?
