So, I need to initialize a value, assert something, do other stuff, assert again, and so on.
Is there a way to structure that?
I mean, with the value being modified from assertion to assertion.

you can use a var and have one example per assertion + run with sequential

Alright. I had forgotten about sequential. Plus, I thought Specs2 might have something fancy for it. :)
I must say, the JUnit 5 nested tests are really interesting (http://junit.org/junit5/docs/current/user-guide/#writing-tests-nested).

Oh, right, there is the isolated mode with mutable specs: https://etorreborre.github.io/specs2/guide/SPECS2-3.8.8/org.specs2.guide.Isolation.html
(not an easy task to implement btw)
