@etorreborre Do you know if I can use slick or any other ORM to work better with scala instead of hibernate for this example , unless hibernate is good enough that is. Is there anything you would say about using hibernate with scala or any issues that I might have to come up against?

@etorreborre I tried the example above, hibernate.properties throws the error in the code based on the example repo from the article:

@vamsiampolu the Cake Pattern is an example of using traits and method overriding to solve the issue you currently have where it seems to be the only solution to write a test in your particular case. I would advise you to use something like guice or MacWire or grafter in other cases. Also I haven’t used hibernate with Scala but I’ve used doobie and I have been pretty satisfied with it

@etorreborre thanks again for your patience. in the example above, just to get it working, will try and replace hibernate with doobie or squeryl (docs seem easy to follow) and see how it goes. Once I solve that issue, I can get back on track (I am an expert in getting sidetracked)
