Hi there I'm Ridma from Sri Lanaka.And I'm a fan of ROS SLAM packages
ridmapabasara
@ridmapabasara
interested in the PCL project and ROS web tools,frankly the current project I'm working on needs such application so 'm hopping to contribute to that .Are there any chat rooms specific for that project
Kei Okada
@k-okada
@vatsalshah98 not necessary, but we hope you start downloading our source code and try demo program, you'll be easily find something to add, like missing documentation, unfamiliar error code etc...
@abhi20161997 , please follow our instruction -> and prepare for the 1st step https://gitter.im/euslisp/jskeus?at=5a1f96f471ad3f8736495888
@ridmapabasara github is the best place for chat for me. For PCL, https://github.com/jsk-ros-pkg/jsk_recognition/issues, and https://github.com/tork-a/visualization_rwt/issues for ROSweb

Kei Okada
@k-okada
@ninadkale98 if you have any inconvenience (not only source code,but in terms of documentation, tutorial and so on...) or find something you want to improve, please create a issue or pull request.
If you're interested in a specific topic . i.e. control, please look into control code and learn what algorithm is currently used.

I am unable to build the entire repo
the error i get is of this structure
Attempt to add link library
"x" to target
"y" which is not built in this directory.
please help

@oxcabe
did you get that error after running make? Also please write here the output of running lsb_release -a in the system you're using to build the repo

  2. More integration of PCL-ROS
    Can you please direct me to the mentors of these projects ???
Ridhwan Luthra
@Ridhwanluthra
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS
Release: 16.04
Codename: xenial
@oxcabe yes its after running catkin_make
Óscar Carrasco
@oxcabe
I'll do some testing with Ubuntu 16.04 to see if I can get it to work properly. I got the entire repo working using Ubuntu 14.04 and following the instructions. The package by itself doesn't include /opt/ros/indigo/setup.bash script, so install ros-indigo-desktop or ros-indigo-pr2eus and the script will appear in that folder. Then restart your machine or source ~/.bashrc (if you're using bash) and the tools should work.
If I remember correctly, I had a similar problem the first time I tried to compile it. The only difference is that I used make inside the root folder of the repository (it worked without any error) but then the binaries lacked libraries. After getting the packages to work, I compiled again and the errors disappeared, so I suppose that at least one of the packages install the required libraries.
In that machine (Ubuntu 14.04) I installed ros-indigo-jskeus, ros-indigo-desktop-full and ros-indigo-pr2eus. Remember that the indigo release of ROS is only available on Ubuntu 14.04. If you're trying to make it work on 16.04, you might want to change "indigo" to "kinetic".
Óscar Carrasco
@oxcabe
I also found this repo and jsk-kinetic-jskeus exists. You can try using this on your system. Unfortunately, documentation is not well maintained, so remember to open issues and contribute if possible! :^) I'll test with Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial)
Ridhwan Luthra
@Ridhwanluthra
@oxcabe I am sorry I forgot to mention, I am trying to build jsk_recognition.
Óscar Carrasco
@oxcabe
@Ridhwanluthra try using the docker setup inside the repository, that should work no matter what.

Hi, i am third year student from india, pursuing btech in IT from Govt. College, Udaipur. i am completely new to this technology but i m really willing to learn, so is there any chance to start working on the project for gsoc 2018?
Óscar Carrasco
@oxcabe
Hello @agarwal-manvi, you can submit your proposal until March 27, 2018 at 17:00 (WEST). If you're interested in this organization, you should check the ideas list here.
Óscar Carrasco
@oxcabe
Also, if you're new to robotics, most projects are developed using ROS. It is essential to understand how ROS works if you want to participate, the website has lots of resources and documentation on installing the tools on your PC and learning to using them.

Dear JSK,

I am a Master student of "AI and Robotics" working with humanoid robot as my thesis project.

2 questions /

1 --- "Knowledge Exchange between two humanoids" .. WHY PROLOG? and is it possible to use any alternative? And why java? is it bounded to some platform you are using?

When you say "exchange knowledge between a wheeled robot like PR2 and humanoid robots". What do you want to achieve by this? What information do you want to share? and what is the end goal?

2 --- ""Running 18 Meter Tall Simulated humanoid robot"". The description given is a bit vague and unclear to me. So, do you want to simulate it in gazebo / hrpsys ? By simulation: What type of simulation; i mean any slam algorithm .. where will it go? And i believe that the urdf model will be provided, yes??

And, i cannot share any code etc (GITHUB) for my thesis project (project belong to our lab). But i can share the details and proof of what i am doing? Is it acceptable?

Many Thanks.

Yisha
@yswhynot
Hi I'm Yisha and I joined JSK last year. In case Prof. Okada is busy and cannot respond immediately, I guess I can help answer some general questions. Regarding those "how to get started" kind of questions, I would suggest run the JSK packages and libraries and get a general idea of what's already there. Then you might be able to find some ways to improve the current implementation, which ever domain you hope to work on. Also, Okada sensei is a very good mentor and I would definitely recommend working with JSK :)
Kei Okada
@k-okada
@Bakhtawarrm_twitter sorry for late, 1. please read our 2017 GSoc Project on the background, https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/archive/2017/projects/5660367464169472/ 2. we want to get up, walk the 18m long humanoid within either Gazebo or hrpsys (based on your preference) . I understand our situation, but do you have any PullRequest to any opensource project you're using, such as ROS, OpenCV...? @yswhynot thank you for your support! hope everything goes well on your side!
Bakhtawar Rehman
@Bakhtawarrm_twitter

Thanks for your response.

No, no pull request for ROS (octomap, stereo, or slam algorithms).

Ericles Lima
@ericlesaquiles
If some of you I'd just like to share with you this link: [ http://euslisp-tutorial.readthedocs.io/ja/latest/#about ].. it has some nice info that I didn't find in other places, and, by its instructions, one can (among other things) more easily install and use kinetic kame on ubuntu 16.06
Ericles Lima
@ericlesaquiles
I was looking at the manuals.. and, at [https://github.com/euslisp/EusLisp], there is mention of a manual, japanese only, for euslisp. There is, however another one, which is also in english, at [https://github.com/euslisp/jskeus]. If I looked at the numbering, the one at [https://github.com/euslisp/jskeus] would seem to be the latest one. I have a feeling, however, that that is not the case. Can someone brief me on this?
Óscar Carrasco
@oxcabe
Hi @ericlesaquiles, if you are interested in learning euslisp (the programming language), I found this while learning Common Lisp for this organisation. I hope it is useful enough for you! ;) http://euslisp.github.io/EusLisp/
I do think that this one is more frequently updated, not sure though.
Ericles Lima
@ericlesaquiles
thank you! that is the one present on [https://github.com/euslisp/EusLisp] (probably I should have posted the manual link, rather than the github one, but anyway..).. my wondering is that the manual on the jskeus page (namely, [http://euslisp.github.io/jskeus/]) seems to have some more info (which I say just by looking at the index and comparing with the japanese version o the other manual), but I'm not sure whether that is correct (if it does indeed have more info) and, that being the case, what that other information would be important for
but thank you for your goodwill in helping, @oxcabe
Óscar Carrasco
@oxcabe
No problem @ericlesaquiles!
