I asked because select project freaked out on me today, and looking at the code I don't see any way it could work. I've had the code checked out for some time but I guess I haven't logged in and logged out for some time. The select project controller is working for you?
With one project it will auto forward me, but with multiple it just throws an exception and never displays the template for me

i haven't put the current code to production, so not well tested by me
and i myself use just one project
i may have broken it with the rewrite, as i tried to cleanup things and make code more readable. and with select project i think i omitted some code paths, made shortcut to common code
perhaps i did not understood what the code is supposed to do
so yes, i did not test multiple projects

I will commit my fix then
I still haven't tested it with the CRM

i hilited you in that issue too
i suppose it was easier to fix logic error when code was in Controller form?

as for project select, i think these should be reversed, first check customer, and if it succeeds then set project cookie, not vice versa:
    AuthCookie::setProjectCookie($prj_id, $this->remember);
    $this->checkCustomerAuthentication($prj_id);
but i can't change that, as checkCustomerAuthentication may need to cookie
