Are you planning to update Exceptionless to Automapper?
  • 4.2
might be a pain... static class has been deprecated, looks like they're trying to make the configuration immutable

Is like to but don't want to deal with figuring that out right now :(
Can't update to json 8 due to elastic or source importation the clients due to they are using c# 6 features which cause compiler errors

not sure i understood that sentence!

Elastic search requires json7
Json.net 8 uses c#6 syntax which doesn't compile for .net 4

This a bug in chrome or in my js
been working for a long time and just broke
'Successfully queued the stack to be marked as ' + isHidden() ? 'shown.' : 'hidden.’ fails
('Successfully queued the stack to be marked as ' + isHidden() ? 'shown.' : 'hidden.’) fails
'Successfully queued the stack to be marked as ' + (isHidden() ? 'shown.' : 'hidden.’) works

aha, gotcha!
i presume it won't compile for .net 4 as there's some async stuff in there?
i was under the impression newer c# versions could be compiled for older .net versions - unless there's some stuff in C#6 that requires newer libs?
Blake Niemyjski
@niemyjski

no c#6 syntactic sugar
yeah
it should work but it doesn't
learned the hard way
there is abug in msbuild that we came across that causes issues on any machines that don’t have it

Feb 17 2016 13:47
oh okay! can't you just fork the elastic lib and update it or is it more complex than that?
Blake Niemyjski
@niemyjski
Feb 17 2016 13:47
they said they will release a new update for 1.7.x
but it’s elastic con this week
and we tend not to fork anything unless we plan to maintain it long term or there is a guarentee they will take our changes
more work than it’s worth otherwise
would be nice to drop .net 4 support in the future
and then take a base requirement on .net 4.5.2 and use async and await
but thats way down the road
still got people asking us how do they use exceptionless with vs2008… which doesn’t even have nuget support
Jamie Clarke
@jamie94bc
Feb 17 2016 13:52
haha! i've never used vs2008
Blake Niemyjski
@niemyjski
Feb 17 2016 13:53
yeah
it was pretty good
but now it’s pretty outdated
you guys see this: http://www.apple.com/customer-letter/ MERICA`

sounds like a better solution than over here in the UK... "banning" encryption https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Encryption_ban_proposal_in_the_United_Kingdom
ah from that article it's been diluted down to the same as what your government wants - a backdoor for messaging apps

We really need to do that for queues.

yeah
@srijken we need to use it dotnet/coreclr#1579

those guys are working on asp.net 5 with it :)

kind of wish xamarin would focus on polishing what they have already than the new cool stuff sometimes
haven't done much mobile device in recent months - unless it's been fixed since the debugging experience is lacking

the android designer can't render custom controls though so it's useless
yet they focus on xamarin.forms and other stuff

on the plus side, they recently fixed the mac build host stuff

I’m waiting for a better coreclr release
currently vs code doesn’t work right unless you have mono installed :(
Jamie Clarke
@jamie94bc
Feb 17 2016 16:41
@ejsmith buginess of Xamarin - they're starting to replace some of mono with .NET - which broke a few things in my app as the behaviour was slightly different

@jamie94bc
Feb 17 2016 16:50
currently trying to debug and it kills the app when you try to step through :(
and it's just killed visual studio!
$2000 well spent :smile:

@all hope you guys like the chart improvements :D
Eric J. Smith
@ejsmith
Feb 17 2016 18:13
@niemyjski love having the info on the chart, but I am not sure that I am liking how smashed into the bottom the X axis labels are…
it looks like you pushed them down there with css, but I removed that css and they go to the top of the chart and they look pretty good up there.
why did you move them down to the bottom?
Blake Niemyjski
@niemyjski
Feb 17 2016 18:24
because that’s what every chart (90% of them) I’ve ever looked at does
