And of course you can use git to track your stuff, some of us do and even have their repositories publicly available.
You can find an example of a polyglot-mono-repo at https://gitlab.com/NobbZ/exercism-solutions, others split their polyglottal stuff into one repository per track.

Hi All, trying to install CLI\ exercism on my windows and get REST request failed: Error sending data (12007) the server name or address could not be resolved - anyone here faced it?
Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
@amitrintzler could you please copy and paste the full error? And what command caused it? Usually the CLI does not print out such numbers...

Hi, I'm just trying to configure the exercism CLI. When I run exercism configure --token=MY_CLI_TOKEN I receive: Error: The base API URL 'https://api.exercism.io/v1' cannot be reached.

API returned 403 Forbidden

Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
Have you checked if your token is correct?
Highspeedtrooper79
@Highspeedtrooper79
I got the same thing when I tried to configure the CLI
Verified the token by copying it from my settings page.
Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
To be honest, I've never seen that before… What is the output of exercism debug?
Highspeedtrooper79
@Highspeedtrooper79
What would be the best way to get you the output of the debug?
Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
Pasting it here using triple-backticks or using termbin.com or pastebin, or github gists or gitlab gists or whatever you like
Highspeedtrooper79
@Highspeedtrooper79
You'll have to pardon my ignorance I'm new to all this. I've saved it on paste in but I'm not sure how to get you the url for it
Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
Url-bar?
Highspeedtrooper79
@Highspeedtrooper79
Sorry on mobile.
Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
That looks like not beeing connected to the internet. Or at least as if the CLI is not allowed to access it. Have you checked/disabled your firewall and is proxy set up correctly (if applicable)?
Highspeedtrooper79
@Highspeedtrooper79
It is possible that the traffic is being filtered by the firewall. It's a work machine. It allowed me to get the .exe so I thought I was in good shape maybe not.
Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
Might be a proxy in place that is configured for your browser but not in the terminal.
But yes, company networks are always a bit hairy
Best is to ask IT department for help installing and configuring. Some companies don't even allow copying and running random binaries from the internet on the workstations.
Highspeedtrooper79
@Highspeedtrooper79
Fair enough. I appreciate you taking the time to help this morning. I'll bring in a personal laptop and give it a go on our public (no proxy) network this weekend.
Thank you again for your time and patience

Hi
I am not able to configure exercism on windows
exercism configure --token=###########################
returns Error: The base API URL 'https://api.exercism.io/v1' cannot be reached.
I am using windows 10 pro
Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
@anupdhabarde please make sure that exercism is allowed in your firewall and that you have configured your proxy correctly
Anup Dhabarde
@anupdhabarde
@NobbZ Thanks Norbert. It worked.

Hey hi,
I am unable to install exercism on windows, Can someone please helo me how to do it in detail
Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
Hello @tjpriyadarshini what version of windows are you using, what is the error you see or the step you are struggling with? And are you doing manual installation or using the installer?
orkhan777
@orkhan777
hey friends, I can't setup exercisim on linux mint, is shows “~/bin/exercism” terminated by signal SIGSEGV (Address boundary error)" like that. Anyone help?
Victor Goff
@kotp
What was sthe file you downloaded? Sounds like maybe the wrong platform was selected, maybe?
tjpriyadarshini
@tjpriyadarshini
@NobbZ Hello,
It has been downloaded now successfully. I just restarted my computer and then executed it again and it worked. Thank you.
Now can I know, how to start using exercism to solve problems. I windows-installer. But not understanding any thing from that.
Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
@tjpriyadarshini so you say installation worked now? Have you verified by running exercism version in your terminal of choice?
@orkhan777 I'd second Victors opinion, a segfault is a quite common sympton when downloading the binary for wrong operation system. Perhaps you downloaded FreeBSD instead of linux?

Hi
fatemeh azizkhani
@fazizkhani
I started to work with exercism yesterday. I want to know how to change a submitted solution ... I have just submitted a wrong solution and I want to change it but I can't ...
Victor Goff
@kotp
Good question. If you submitted a file, but then want to change that solution, you can submit that file again, with the changes in it. It will create a new "iteration tab".
This is actually pretty much the normal workflow.
Hopefully you will want to change the solution most of the time after having submitted the initial one. Very few of us post perfect first submissions.

@fazizkhani
Thank you ... I submitted again and it changed

Good day.

I've just started using exercism and after setting it up and writing the hello world code in PHP, the unit test wouldn't open test file for some reason or submit the file as per instructions given on the page. Is it that I'm doing something wrong? :S

Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
What do you mean by "test won't open test file"? Is there any error message you see?
