Fair enough. I appreciate you taking the time to help this morning. I'll bring in a personal laptop and give it a go on our public (no proxy) network this weekend.
Thank you again for your time and patience

Hi
I am not able to configure exercism on windows
exercism configure --token=###########################
returns Error: The base API URL 'https://api.exercism.io/v1' cannot be reached.
I am using windows 10 pro

@NobbZ
@anupdhabarde please make sure that exercism is allowed in your firewall and that you have configured your proxy correctly

@anupdhabarde
@NobbZ Thanks Norbert. It worked.

Hey hi,
I am unable to install exercism on windows, Can someone please helo me how to do it in detail
Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
Hello @tjpriyadarshini what version of windows are you using, what is the error you see or the step you are struggling with? And are you doing manual installation or using the installer?
orkhan777
@orkhan777
hey friends, I can't setup exercisim on linux mint, is shows “~/bin/exercism” terminated by signal SIGSEGV (Address boundary error)" like that. Anyone help?

@kotp
What was sthe file you downloaded? Sounds like maybe the wrong platform was selected, maybe?
tjpriyadarshini
@tjpriyadarshini
@NobbZ Hello,
It has been downloaded now successfully. I just restarted my computer and then executed it again and it worked. Thank you.
Now can I know, how to start using exercism to solve problems. I windows-installer. But not understanding any thing from that.
Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
@tjpriyadarshini so you say installation worked now? Have you verified by running exercism version in your terminal of choice?
@orkhan777 I'd second Victors opinion, a segfault is a quite common sympton when downloading the binary for wrong operation system. Perhaps you downloaded FreeBSD instead of linux?

Hi

@fazizkhani
I started to work with exercism yesterday. I want to know how to change a submitted solution ... I have just submitted a wrong solution and I want to change it but I can't ...
Victor Goff
@kotp
Good question. If you submitted a file, but then want to change that solution, you can submit that file again, with the changes in it. It will create a new "iteration tab".
This is actually pretty much the normal workflow.
Hopefully you will want to change the solution most of the time after having submitted the initial one. Very few of us post perfect first submissions.

Thank you ... I submitted again and it changed

Good day.

I've just started using exercism and after setting it up and writing the hello world code in PHP, the unit test wouldn't open test file for some reason or submit the file as per instructions given on the page. Is it that I'm doing something wrong? :S

Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
What do you mean by "test won't open test file"? Is there any error message you see?
@wwwzxc :point_up_2:
wwwzxc
@wwwzxc
Cannot open file "hello-world/hello-world-test.php".
that would be the error message
when I try to run this -> ./phpunit.phar hello-world/hello-world_test.php
Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
What is the command that causes that error and what is your working directory when you call that command?
wwwzxc
@wwwzxc
the working directory is hello-world folder where the hello-world.php is located, same as test file
although Im very new to coding, so I might not understand correctly what you are asking ;x
Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
So if you are already in hello-world folder, why telling phpunit.phar to run a level deeper when that file should be at the same level? ./phpunit.phar hello-world_test.php
wwwzxc
@wwwzxc
genius man :D
I kinda copy-pasted the line from instructions and didn't think about it
now it works!
could you also explain how to upload the solution properly? as if I copy this line : exercism submit /path/to/file [/path/to/file2 ...]
Im not sure what I actually suppose to write in the command
not good with these paths yet
Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
exercism submit <filename>
whereas the filename has to be relative to where you are…
Understanding how pathes work is important…
wwwzxc
@wwwzxc
finally it worked! Thanks for your help!

Hope you can help: I typed in "exercism configure --token=..." into my command window (right after: C:\Users\user>) and I got "'exercism' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file." as the error message. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
Norbert Melzer
@NobbZ
Have you correctly installed exercism? And which way did you follow? Manual or automatic installer?
