NobbZ Can you please C&P exact command used and its output?

@Fabianthorsen
Yes

ls -l $(exercism download --exercise=hello-world --track=python)
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ Okay, files are downloaded and do exist on your harddisk
Fabianthorsen
@Fabianthorsen
Ok, how do i access them?
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ what is the output of exercism workspace?
Fabianthorsen
@Fabianthorsen
C:\Users\thors\Exercism
Oh ok,
Is there a way to move that directory to a custom one?
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ Then your files are at C:\Users\thors\Exercism\python\hello-world,
NobbZ exercism configure --workspace …
Fabianthorsen
@Fabianthorsen
To the main project directory or the python specific one?
Does it create subfolders automatically?
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ The workspace is always language agnostic and it will create 2 layers of folders automatically within it on download for the language and the exercise.
Fabianthorsen
@Fabianthorsen
Ok, perfect! Thank you for such quick and helpfull diagnistics!

hi! not sure if this is the right place to ask but I tried setting up the API token configuration. it looks like it worked (you have configured the exercism command-line client) but when I try to download a track it again prompts me to configure the API token. any advice on how to debug this?
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ gitter_sesquipedaliya snap install?
sesquipedaliya
@sesquipedaliya
I did snap install. I have exercism version 3.0.13. Running on Ubuntu 18.04.
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ Yeah, there are some known problems with it writing the correct files :( Sadly we haven't been able to reproduce the issue
NobbZ When you do exercism debug what config path does it show?
sesquipedaliya
@sesquipedaliya
home/<username>/snap/exercism/5/.config/exercism
and it shows the API key as not configured
the .config dir is empty
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ Is there a file in that folder? And is one in ~/.config/exercism/?
sesquipedaliya
@sesquipedaliya
sorry, should have been clear: the home/<username>/snap/exercism/5/ folder is empty
there's a user.json in ~/.config/exercism
which includes the token
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ Hardlink it to the snap location.
sesquipedaliya
@sesquipedaliya
the user.json?
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ Yes
sesquipedaliya
@sesquipedaliya
great
works now!
thanks very much

hi, Im having a hard time installing the excercism cli on a windowns 8 hp laptop, Im using this guide https://github.com/exercism/DEPRECATED.help.exercism.io/blob/master/app/pages/process/installing-the-cli-on-windows.md, currently on this step Adding the executable's directory to PATH, when I input the commands into the console, with what I think is my user "Hp", I`m for instance creating a back up using "C:\Users\Hp> PATH > yyyy-mm-dd_PATH_backup.txt" and it says "C:\Users\Hp is not recognized as an internal or external command,operable programs or bach file", please help
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ Have you used the displayed prompt as part of the copied command?
NobbZ Also, the repository you linked, and therefore the guide as well, are deprecated. The current guide is available at https://exercism.io/cli-walkthrough
juanksmb
@juanksmb
@matrixbot yes I copied exactly that and it gives that error, I was following that guide but in the page Moving the Exercism CLI to the right folder on Windows 10, while entering this command start "" "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\WindowsApps" in step Step 1: Opening the right folder, im getting this error tab "windows cannot find c:users/hp/appdata/local/microsoft/windows apps. make sure you typed the name correctly,then try again.
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ In the docs, the prompt is not meant to be copied, only the command itself.

Hello everyone,
Have a look at this blog,
CD command in Linux: https://t.co/hV5L45C7rn
juanksmb
@juanksmb
@matrixbot ok, I´m only using %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\WindowsApps and it says, this same thing "%localappdata...." is not recognized as an internal or external command...
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ The win8 does probably not know of that location and it might in fact be that you need to follow the deprecated instructions
juanksmb
@juanksmb
@matrixbot exactly, Im following the deprecated instructions but I`m having problems adding the executable directory to path, like i was saying if i wanted to make a back up entering g "C:\Users\Hp> PATH > yyyy-mm-dd_PATH_backup.txt", hp seems to be my user, i get "C:\Users\Hp is not recognized as an internal or external command,operable programs or bach file", I could go on, but why wouldnt it recognize that simple command?, i dont want to go further without addressing that first
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ And I already said you to not copy the prompt
NobbZ Ps, if you write my name, not the name of the bridge, I actually get a notification
juanksmb
@juanksmb
@matrixbot thanks, I think I will continue.
