hi, Im having a hard time installing the excercism cli on a windowns 8 hp laptop, Im using this guide https://github.com/exercism/DEPRECATED.help.exercism.io/blob/master/app/pages/process/installing-the-cli-on-windows.md, currently on this step Adding the executable's directory to PATH, when I input the commands into the console, with what I think is my user "Hp", I`m for instance creating a back up using "C:\Users\Hp> PATH > yyyy-mm-dd_PATH_backup.txt" and it says "C:\Users\Hp is not recognized as an internal or external command,operable programs or bach file", please help
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ Have you used the displayed prompt as part of the copied command?
NobbZ Also, the repository you linked, and therefore the guide as well, are deprecated. The current guide is available at https://exercism.io/cli-walkthrough
juanksmb
@juanksmb
@matrixbot yes I copied exactly that and it gives that error, I was following that guide but in the page Moving the Exercism CLI to the right folder on Windows 10, while entering this command start "" "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\WindowsApps" in step Step 1: Opening the right folder, im getting this error tab "windows cannot find c:users/hp/appdata/local/microsoft/windows apps. make sure you typed the name correctly,then try again.
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ In the docs, the prompt is not meant to be copied, only the command itself.

Hello everyone,
Have a look at this blog,
CD command in Linux: https://t.co/hV5L45C7rn
juanksmb
@juanksmb
@matrixbot ok, I´m only using %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\WindowsApps and it says, this same thing "%localappdata...." is not recognized as an internal or external command...
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ The win8 does probably not know of that location and it might in fact be that you need to follow the deprecated instructions
juanksmb
@juanksmb
@matrixbot exactly, Im following the deprecated instructions but I`m having problems adding the executable directory to path, like i was saying if i wanted to make a back up entering g "C:\Users\Hp> PATH > yyyy-mm-dd_PATH_backup.txt", hp seems to be my user, i get "C:\Users\Hp is not recognized as an internal or external command,operable programs or bach file", I could go on, but why wouldnt it recognize that simple command?, i dont want to go further without addressing that first
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ And I already said you to not copy the prompt
NobbZ Ps, if you write my name, not the name of the bridge, I actually get a notification
juanksmb
@juanksmb
@matrixbot thanks, I think I will continue.

Hello, I have the CLion IDE installed, could anyone please help me with how to load the questions in it? Thanks in advance!
It says CMake project is not loaded.
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ When I played with it years ago, it just worked.
NobbZ Can you get any details about the error?

Hey sometime ago i did the ruby track (https://exercism.io/my/solutions/eda06c22ac3644ff8a209d50c7c2d34e), the mentor noted the solution was correct ("Perfect!") & suggested to try out benchmarking for curiosity, but has not approved. Is there away to get around this? Thanks in advance! Not sure if you are able to see the link but it is Ruby > Hamming.
Victor Goff
@kotp
Taken care of.
Natalie Tan
@natalieytan
@kotp thank you very much!
Victor Goff
@kotp
There are some other things I might mention though, if you are interested.
I can do so in the exercise. And of course you can take it or leave it.
Natalie Tan
@natalieytan
Sure thing :)

How can I get exersism CLI
juanksmb
@juanksmb
hi, I`m on the beginning of the kotlin track, doing the pangram extra excercise, now I run my solution on the console using while on the correct directory using the command "gradle test", says build succesful with only 1 test succeded and so im begining to remove the @ignores from the test file to begin the tdd or something like that , anyways, my issue is: the read me says i need to run gradlew.bat instead, I ran and it says "FAILURE: build failed with an exception. what wen wrong : could not initialize class.org. codehouse. groovy...",
please help :)
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ dm7473 (Gitter): There is an installation guide available at https://exercism.io/cli-walkthrough
NobbZ juanksmb (Gitter): Hard to say with a stripped down stack trace. You basically removed the important part… Though currently reports of version problems are quite common, please make sure your version of Java is supported by the version of gradle you use. Perhaps you need to downgrade your systems Java installation. You can get additional support by opening a ticket at github.com/exercism/exercism
Raksha128
@Raksha128
when I install manually in this step
exercism
zsh: permission denied: exercism
it comes like this how to solve it?
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ Raksha128 (Gitter) then the permissions are probably wrong. What does stats $(where exercism) print?
Victor Goff
@kotp
That may be stat $(where exercism)
Divyansh Bhardwaj
@dbc2201
@matrixbot I tried to download a problem from Exercism, and then load it into CLion, but it doesn't compile.
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ What error do you see? As running the tests is the default target, I do expect it to "fail" to "compile". Unless of course everything passes the tests. Therefore please take a look at the output provided. Ans also please call me "NobbZ", I'll get highlights then. @matrixbot is just a bridgeaccount to gitter.im used by thousands if not millions of people.

PrincessJaydeofWarri

matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ It either should print an error or create the folder, does ~/bin exist?
PrincessJaydeofWarri
@PrincessJaydeofWarri
I am not sure
I am a total beginner
matrixbot
@matrixbot
NobbZ Use ls -l ~/bin to find out
