let's chat here as this is too specific for the others i guess
I do not see how the development can start without a device and it might not be possible to get one so quickly
Damn

lets not spam everyone with too much talk

May 31 2015 15:08
sorry
but i did not know that this cannel existed
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:09
are google tango dev devices available in India?
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:09
currently not available
Mario Behling

May 31 2015 15:14
ok, we need to seriously think what to do. honestly the social media sharing is not so important. without some cool 3d stuff the whole thing is not cool :(
what are your ideas?
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:16
i m thinking about
a user can click his pictures through thde device then he can click on his keypoints on his body as guided
and then through that we can extract the measurements
so the flow will be something like this
I click two pictures of mine
one front profile and one side profile
and then app tells me to click between two points A and B on the picture
then that measurement is done
are you getting it?
then app suggests two different points and some other measurement is done

i think we can do this easier, but at the moment the question is, what can we make work without the device?
if this does not make sense, we should switch to another project
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:20
yes
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:21
just doing some improvements on the interface and social media sharing is not a summer project
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:21
i know that
see the main issues were the webapp was not self explanatory
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:21
originally you also said you are interested in other projects
that is also an option
e.g. open event or loklak
twitterwall etc
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:22
yes I can switch to them
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:22
or we have the knitting machine stuff
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:22
I was initially interested in TwitterWall
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:22
do you have knitting machines in the university?
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:22
that is not in my domain
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:22
ok
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:22
no
anyways what I am suggesting is
anything developed with Intel Realsense is going to be eyecatcher because the development is really jsut starting now
so I can work on Intel Realsense because I want to
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:24
i am not clear how that can work with the tech stack we are using
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:24
about the possibilities we will have to see cause even the people at Intel are just exploring it
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:24
and apparently you do not have a device yet
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:24
It will be here in a week time
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:25
have you set up the development environment already?
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:26
I dont think support removal of JS should be a problem
because they will be bring it back and they themselves have posted a tutorial on how to include JS support back
so tech stack is fine I think
no not as of now..going through documentation
will set up tonight
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:28
clicking on some parts and then asking the user to identify them, is not a suitable thing. what would be cool is, if a user could just stand in front of the cam and their measurements are automatically taken
it looks like this is already possible in the SDK
other automatic tools - i am not sure, if we need more computing power in the cloud
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:30
I am not sure its possible after seeing Volumental
I will have to checkn documentation
they have mostly focussed on gestures and face with 80 keypoints on face
not much on the body

i dont see code from volumental - it is all a beautiful presentation. how much is real of it and can be implemented with the sdk already - i am really not sure
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:37
i researched a bit they have a complete team of people including five PHDs who have developed a algorithm to use Intel RealSense data to find the measurement of the feet
so I fairly assume this thing would not have been possible just with SDK
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:39
have you looked at google tango? this might be a solution, but maybe not this year
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:44
I looked at it
sorry for delay
the network is bad here after recent quakes :(
supposedly it can do the task
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:46
oh, did not know about quakes. there was no news about it
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:48
the nepal earthquakes
I live near Nepal border
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:49
ah ok. i have not heard about large damages in india. what is the situation on the ground?
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:49
what do you suggest for this summer?
actually the earthquakes are recurring so the network guy told me that there is problem due to that
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:50
i see
i think the missing js support means we need to reconsider and chose another project. but: we could still do this project later and if you are interested i can ask cat (when i see her in october) to send you a developer of google tango.
however currently, we cant just postpone gsoc.
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:52
yes
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:52
but what do you think? There are enough cool projects we could do, however, it depends on you.
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:53
I am open for anything which involves web
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:53
i guess you browsed through the gsoc project list before. there are projects with the fossasia api, open event and loklak, that relate to web
apart from that - do you maybe have an idea yourself?
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:54
but you told some students are working onthem already
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:55
it does not matter. we can create an additional project. more gsoc projects = more features to be implemented
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:55
ok sure
I was interested in LokLak API
so If I could contribute to some project using that
apart from that I have a few ideas but they are small
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:57
if you join this project the advantage would be that the others are very active and could get you in pretty quickly i guess
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:57
ok
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:57
could you install loklak on your PC as a first step and check out, what are your questions?
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 15:58
ok sure
so we are scraping bodyapps-web?
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 15:59
postponing i would say
it would be great, if you keep playing with this
and i hope we can follow up on this project later
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 16:00
sure
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 16:00
it seems we are slightly ahead with this project
do you agree?
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 16:01
by ahead you mean lacking in tech?
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 16:01
yes. we can see that the idea can work, but we are lacking the tools
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 16:01
yes
can you tell me the tech stack involved with LokLak project?
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 16:02
i just sent you an invite to the loklak team
please join
then you can read through the history of the chat
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 16:02
thanks
Mario Behling
@mariobehling
May 31 2015 16:02
did you accept the invite?
Prashant Kiran
@prasht63
May 31 2015 16:06
yes
