Ok, new Fedberry-27.1 release is up.

@knuxfanwin8
Does Fedberry 27.1 work on the Raspberry Pi 3 B+?

@sbadux

Hello, I've created an alternativeto page for Fedberry. https://alternativeto.net/software/fedberry/ You can put a Like if you want.

I hope I have done something pleasant otherwise let me know and I'll ask to delete this page.

Yes, our latest release works on RPi3+ (its in the top of the release notes)
Thanks @sbadux :-)

believe it or not... I have actually been looking at f28 related builds
the upstream rpi 4.16.y kernel has had 'issues' of late so I haven't been that interested until they fixed it up

@Conan-Kudo
@Gormartsen it looks like mock.fedberry.org isn't correctly deployed

@markand
hello
I'm interested in running fedberry on my raspberry, however I would like to customize the barebone kickstart before burning a SD card
but I can't find many documentation on how to create a USB disk file using your kickstart files
Bill Peck
@p3ck
You can use virt-customize on the image to install packages..
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
Hi @markand. I use appliance-creator to create all of our images. If you use our kickstarts, the created image will boot directly from usb (if you have a RPi3 or 3+ that is).
You will also have to update fedberry-pkgs.ks with the latest kernel release to make it all work.
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
I haven't done any image creation for a while, so I'm not sure if anything there are any further adjustments needed for the kickstart files. I find when it comes to kickstarts, things seem to inevitably break as soon as you turn your back ;-)
If you have any questions, just ask and I'll answer when I can.

Hi Guys, general question how can install mono 5.8 on fedberry? i saw it is possible to use the mono repo's, but not sure if it will run on fedberry?
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
Hi @RiaanPretoriusSA. Seems Fedora are only providing mono-4.8 in their repos at the moment, so that is what you will get with Fedberry.
At present, it looks like they are having issues building the 5.x releases https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1436896

@agrez
For those who are interested, I have recently patched our chromium build to use mmal acceleration (where possible). My initial testing shows quite an improvement when watching videos on youtube. If you want to test it out, you will need enable the testing repository and update.
You will also need to ensure you add the h264ify extension to chromium.
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
For those interested, I have pushed up some Fedberry 28 'snapshot' releases (fedberry-28.0.20180725). There is no LXQt release as Fedora seems to have little interest in supporting it at present (it has not been updated since Fedora 26).
Not much has changed since the 27.1 release. Mainly the updated chromium with mmal acceleration is included in the images. It is still based on the stable long term 4.14.y kernel series as the current (4.17.y) 'downstream' rpi kernel port has various broken bits and pieces that need fixing.
For those interested, I am building 4.17.y series kernels and you can find them in our unstable repositories.
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
Will there be an 'official' Fedberry 28 release you ask? Probably not....
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
BTW, I haven't posted any of the current repo 'snapshot' images on the github page as they are not official releases. You can grab them from download.fedberry.org or the sourceforge mirror.
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
While I remember....... if you want hardware h264 video acceleration in chromium, then you must add your user to the 'video' group.
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
I just added a RPi hardware accelerated build of mpv to the testing repo (f28). Seems to work quite well, all things considered.
mpv-fedberry.jpg
It accelerates video playback of mp4 files via mmal and full screen performance seems comparable comparable to omxplayer
