hi everyone! i have a problem when update a fedberry i had this error

i need help :c
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
Hi @MarlonPindter. Do you happen to have either /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora.repo.rpmnew or /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-updates.repo.rpmnew files hanging around?
If so, then if you rename them to fedora-updates.repo & fedora.repo it should hopefully fix the problem.

@agrez
For those who may be interested, I have pushed up some Fedberry 29 development snapshot images (barebone, minimal & xfce). Barebone and minimal releases are pretty solid while the xfce image has a few minor niggles here and there which may or may not get ironed out by the time we do an official 29.1 release.
Not sure if I'll do a lxqt release yet......

@sbadux
Thanks again for your work @agrez . I was hoping for an updated release of Fedberry. I spent a lot of time to fix problems with other RPi distros (SD corruption, updates that broke the system,...) but thanks to Fedberry it's more than a year that I don't have to maintenance my RPi and I've regularly installed all the updates. It's rock solid. I love it.
I think you can focus on a single DE. Xfce is good and I think that can be the only DE
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
Hi @sbadux. Yes, I think I will just push out Xfce as the only desktop release for Fedberry 29. I spent some time this weekend finding a few bugs that will need to be fixed before I can do a LXQt spin, so this will only delay things even more.

@agrez
As far as sdcards go, I have a general rule which helps me greatly. If the SDcard costs less than the RPi, then don't use it! ;-) I find cheap sdcards are mostly a waste of time. Its amazing the performance and reliability improvements to be gained when a 'premium' sdcard is used. Cards with a 'lifetime' warranty have not failed me yet.
Although that being said, my main 2 builders have used external usb SSDs for a while now, so I don't thrash the sdcards like I used to.

@agrez
If anyone is interested, I have pushed up a vlc-3.0.5 build (based off of RPM Fusion spec file) for FedBerry (after also raiding Pi Towers for a patch which fixes mmal support). Seems to work quite well. Its in the testing repo for the moment.

I can't verify if the new RPi 3A+ will work with Fedberry 29.1 (I don't own one).... If anyone happens to try it out, then please let me know.
Theoretically, support for the 3A+ should be in the latest kernel......

Coinciding nicely with the Fedora 27 EOL, I have released Fedberry 29.1. See the release notes here: https://github.com/fedberry/fedberry/releases
sbadux
@sbadux
@agrez Yes, I use only good SD Cards. For Fedberry I'm using the same SD Card I used with Raspbian and Ubuntu Mate. On MATE the SD card corrupts after 3-4 reboots or evertime there was a blackout while on Fedberry I never needed to restore the SD Card.

what help do you need to lxqt? also is there an upgrade process for 27.1 to 29.1 or is it reinstall?
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
Hi @itisthec. I have added some fixes already for LXQt but I will try and push these upstream to Fedora first (this may take a while), as they are not Fedberry specific issues. I haven't tested upgrading from 27.1 ----> 29.1, so I'm not sure if it works. I have only tested from 28.0 ----> 29.1 and all they upgraded smoothly.
itisthec
@itisthec
can i upgrade from 27.1 -> 28 then 28 -> 29.1?
Peter Oliver
@mavit
For what it's worth, I upgraded from 27 to 29 and it was fine.
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
hi @itisthec. Apologies for my tardy response. Most of my installs over time have gone from f27.1-->f28 (insert a few months) then f28-->f29.1 and I haven't had any major issues. I however not done it all in one hit (and haven't had any free time to test this lately).
Thanks @mavit for your input here. I have been wondering if anyone had tried this yet. Usually if there were issues I would have heard about it by now, so I guess the upgrade process is working fairly smoothly at present.
sbadux
@sbadux
@agrez @mavit can you please tell me how to update from 27 to 29? I would like to update but I don't know how to do it
Peter Oliver
@mavit
I used the standard Fedora upgrade procedure, described https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/DNF_system_upgrade
and summarised at
sbadux
@sbadux
Thanks a lot @mavit I'm starting the update now :)
sbadux
@sbadux
The upgrade process worked fine also for me. Thanks a lot. I had to remove almost all the programs because I'm using a 8GB SD Card, but then it worked.
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
Yep, standard upgrade procedure for Fedora should be all that is required. Glad to see it worked for you @sbadux. :thumbsup:

Merry Christmas or Seasons Greetings depending on your inclinations, and Happy New Year all! Quick question with regard to [q]
Not sure if I'll do a lxqt release yet......[\q] if i am running 27.1 with lxqt and upgrade to 29.1 - will it work? i am guess not, because their won't be packages for the lxqt environment?
itisthec
@itisthec
upgrade to 29 (from 27) went fine on pi i have that is headless (doesn't run any windowing and thus no lxqt)
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
hi @itisthec. Thank you and Merry Christmas and HNY to you :-) As for upgrading your LXQt install, it will upgrade fine but you will end up with Fedora's default LXQt packages, which presently have a few issues with them.
If you enable our testing repo, you will get some Fedberry LXQt updates (ie. bug fixes) I was working on at the end of last year. The packages fix some issues but not all, hence they live in testing for the moment. Due to various reasons I haven't had time over the past month to make any more progress with fixing up LXQt. Sometimes real life just gets in the way. :-/

@RiaanPretoriusSA
hi guys, i upgraded from fedberry 28 -> 29, i had issues. refused to upgrade then i used a old redhat trick to upgrade the release file to complete the upgrade
but there fedberry repo seems offline? Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'fedberry', ignoring this repo.
anyone know anything about this?
RiaanPretoriusSA
@RiaanPretoriusSA
also http://fedberry.org/ appears down that the repo links to?
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
hmmm.... yes, download.fedberry.org seems to be down.....
@Gormartsen can you see any reason why?
