Coinciding nicely with the Fedora 27 EOL, I have released Fedberry 29.1. See the release notes here: https://github.com/fedberry/fedberry/releases

@sbadux
@agrez Yes, I use only good SD Cards. For Fedberry I'm using the same SD Card I used with Raspbian and Ubuntu Mate. On MATE the SD card corrupts after 3-4 reboots or evertime there was a blackout while on Fedberry I never needed to restore the SD Card.

what help do you need to lxqt? also is there an upgrade process for 27.1 to 29.1 or is it reinstall?
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
Hi @itisthec. I have added some fixes already for LXQt but I will try and push these upstream to Fedora first (this may take a while), as they are not Fedberry specific issues. I haven't tested upgrading from 27.1 ----> 29.1, so I'm not sure if it works. I have only tested from 28.0 ----> 29.1 and all they upgraded smoothly.

@itisthec
can i upgrade from 27.1 -> 28 then 28 -> 29.1?
Peter Oliver
@mavit
For what it's worth, I upgraded from 27 to 29 and it was fine.
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
hi @itisthec. Apologies for my tardy response. Most of my installs over time have gone from f27.1-->f28 (insert a few months) then f28-->f29.1 and I haven't had any major issues. I however not done it all in one hit (and haven't had any free time to test this lately).
Thanks @mavit for your input here. I have been wondering if anyone had tried this yet. Usually if there were issues I would have heard about it by now, so I guess the upgrade process is working fairly smoothly at present.
sbadux
@sbadux
@agrez @mavit can you please tell me how to update from 27 to 29? I would like to update but I don't know how to do it
Peter Oliver
@mavit
I used the standard Fedora upgrade procedure, described https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/DNF_system_upgrade
and summarised at
sbadux
@sbadux
Thanks a lot @mavit I'm starting the update now :)
sbadux
@sbadux
The upgrade process worked fine also for me. Thanks a lot. I had to remove almost all the programs because I'm using a 8GB SD Card, but then it worked.
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
Yep, standard upgrade procedure for Fedora should be all that is required. Glad to see it worked for you @sbadux. :thumbsup:

Merry Christmas or Seasons Greetings depending on your inclinations, and Happy New Year all! Quick question with regard to [q]
Not sure if I'll do a lxqt release yet......[\q] if i am running 27.1 with lxqt and upgrade to 29.1 - will it work? i am guess not, because their won't be packages for the lxqt environment?
itisthec
@itisthec
upgrade to 29 (from 27) went fine on pi i have that is headless (doesn't run any windowing and thus no lxqt)
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
hi @itisthec. Thank you and Merry Christmas and HNY to you :-) As for upgrading your LXQt install, it will upgrade fine but you will end up with Fedora's default LXQt packages, which presently have a few issues with them.
If you enable our testing repo, you will get some Fedberry LXQt updates (ie. bug fixes) I was working on at the end of last year. The packages fix some issues but not all, hence they live in testing for the moment. Due to various reasons I haven't had time over the past month to make any more progress with fixing up LXQt. Sometimes real life just gets in the way. :-/

hi guys, i upgraded from fedberry 28 -> 29, i had issues. refused to upgrade then i used a old redhat trick to upgrade the release file to complete the upgrade
but there fedberry repo seems offline? Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'fedberry', ignoring this repo.
anyone know anything about this?
RiaanPretoriusSA
@RiaanPretoriusSA
also http://fedberry.org/ appears down that the repo links to?
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
hmmm.... yes, download.fedberry.org seems to be down.....
@Gormartsen can you see any reason why?

Hello, i've launched dnf update today
NetworkManager update (i guess) seems to completely broke my network connection
I can't even ping 192.168.1.1. Someone else with this problem?
It just boots on a terminal, not even the GUI :(
sbadux
@sbadux
At boot i can se "Dependency error" for Network Manager and some others software. Unfortunatly I can't rollback the updates because I've not internet

@agrez
Hi @sbadux. I haven't hit this issue but I haven't updated since the beginning of the week. When I get home from work tonight I will take a look.
I haven't pushed any Fedberry updates for a week or so now, so its likely an update from Fedora that has broken something. In the past its usually been Fedora's selinux updates that break stuff... :-/
sbadux
@sbadux
Hello, I have an .img of my SD Card with Fedberry 27 (unfortunately not 29). I've restored it and then updated again to 29. Same problem again. Now I'll stay on 27 for a while. Please let me know if you get the same error. I have a RasPi 2. Thanks!
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
Ok, I can reproduce it on my f29 RPi's. Seem the systemd update is the culprit. They have removed the dbus.service in favour of dbus-daemon.service and it has caused breakage for us :-(
A quick fix for everyone hit by this bug is as root run: systemctl enable dbus-daemon then reboot.
I will push a fix for Fedberry ASAP, which should (hopefully) stop this from happening to anyone else.
Vaughan Agrez
@agrez
ok, I've pushed a fix to stable which seems to stop it happening on my test systems. Hopefully not too many people have got bitten! Thanks for reporting it @sbadux.
sbadux
@sbadux
Thank you for your work and the quick fix. Now I'm going to update to F29 again and I'll see what happens :)

Hi, I am thinking of switching from raspbian to fedberry since I'm more comfortable with Ron based systems. I've a question about packages, are the packages coming from upstream fedora? Say for exams that I'm interested on running openjdk 11 (not available on raspbian but on upstream fedora) is it also available on fedberry?
